  • Head Brewer Wanted

    We are growing…fast! We have been open for 10 months and have location #2 opening in July. We are searching for an experienced, entrepreneurial, and motivated head brewer to join our team.
    Bald Birds Brewing Company is located in Audubon, PA - a suburb of Philadelphia. We currently have a 10BBL Specific Mechanical system with five 20 BBL fermenters and two 20BBL brite tanks.
    Our head brewer oversees and manages all aspects of brewery operations including, but not limited to, the following tasks:

    Brewery Operations
    ● Overseeing day-to-day production operations (brewing, cellaring, packaging, QA, and staff)
    ● Developing repeatable recipes for taproom, distribution, and contract brewing program
    o Leading the partnership with our contract producer
    ● Partnering with brewing teammates for transfers, yeast management, gravities & pH checks, dry hopping & other FV additions
    ● Establishing and maintaining vendor relationships for raw materials and supplies
    ● Cleaning and filling kegs
    ● Managing Packaging in Cans and Kegs
    ● Building comprehensive production schedule to encompass brewing, packaging, and releasing beer
    ● Recruiting, hiring, and managing additional brewery staff as needs and capacity increase
    ● Performing routine equipment maintenance

    Strategic Priorities
    ● Keeping detailed records of recipes and work processes
    ● Developing and Maintaining SOP database
    ● Coordinating with owners, sales team, and taproom manager to ensure that production matches demand
    ● Ensuring every batch of beer meets the highest standards and has no flaws or off-flavors
    ● Producing a wide range of beer styles
    ● Maintaining an impeccably clean brewery space

    Skills and Abilities
    ● Must be 21 years of age or older
    ● Must have an exceptional palate (sensory and off-flavor training are a plus)
    ● At least 5 years brewing and packaging experience
    ● Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
    ● Working knowledge of basic lab equipment and procedures
    ● Knowledge of a wide variety of beer styles and the ability to brew them
    ● Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite programs
    ● Creative problem solving and troubleshooting skills
    ● Positive attitude and an ability to stay calm under pressure
    ● Organized with exceptional communication skills
    ● Forklift certified/certifiable
    ● Valid driver’s license
    ● Able to stand for extended periods of time
    ● Able to regularly twist, turn, bend, and lift supplies weighing up to 55lbs
    ● Able to maneuver up to 165lbs with proper techniques and tools
    ● Able to work in a non-temperature controlled environment with moderate noise and seasonally fluctuating temperatures
