    We are seeking an experienced brewer to take over operations at our award winning brewery and BBQ restaurant. Are you an assistant brewer looking to take that next step in your career?     Brick Vault Brewery & BBQ opened in the spring of 2018 and since then we have been serving up some of the best beers in Far West Texas. With styles ranging from classic European ales/lagers (ESB/Pils/Hefe/etc), sessionable American classics (Cream ale/California Common), and new styles (Juicy Pale Ales/ IPAs); we aim to please not only local craft drinkers but tourist from around the world. All of our beers are brewed on a 1-bbl all electric brew house and sold on-site at our restaurant, which was named one of Texas Monthly's Top 25 New BBQ Joints.

    The ideal candidate for this position would be someone who is passionate about beer and loves to share their knowledge with customers and staff alike. We welcome a creative brewer who can not only brew our core brands, but can also come up with new beers based on seasonality, special ingredients, and showcasing your signature brewing style. The head brewer will have complete control of brewing operations, from grain to glass, and as such must maintain the highest levels of quality. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to take that next step in their craft brewing career by allowing them to run their own brewery, while continuing to learn and perfecting their brewing style and recipes.

    Marathon, TX is located close to Big Bend National Park which offers some of the best hiking, camping, and outdoor activities in the state. It's a small town with mild summers, cool winters and ultra-dark nights that are perfect for star gazing.

    Job Requirements (include but not limited to):
    1. Maintain inventory of bulk ingredients related to the brewing operations (ordering of grain, hops, chemicals, additives, equipment)
    2. Brewing of all beers (core brands & new beers)
    3. Yeast pitching and management
    4. Cellaring of beer (monitoring fermentations, clearing, carbonating, packaging, etc.)
    5. Cleaning of the brewing area to include floors, brew house, tanks, kegs, cold room, etc.
    6. Cleaning of draft lines and maintaining of tap wall
    7. Accurate record keeping (both state and federal reporting)
    8. Knowledge sharing with front of house staff/customers about beers on tap and brewing process
    9. Equipment maintenance
    10. Promoting a safe environment

    Our Ideal Candidate:
    21 years of age
    2 years of professional brewing experience (would consider the right homebrewer)
    Certification from an accredited brewing program a plus but not required
    Ability to lift 55lbs, stoop, bend, reach overhead, and stand for long periods
    Be quality focused and have a keen attention to detail
    Passionate about beer and the brewing process
    Team player who works with others to achieve a common goal
    High level verbal and communication skills
    Microsoft office proficient
    Self-starter who can work with very little supervision and set their own hours while still getting the job done
