  • Fresh Hop beer?

    Esteemed colleagues-

Any wisdom and/or do's and don'ts on Wet/Fresh hop brewing??? I'll be doing my first on Tuesday. I'll be brewing a 10bbl batch with 80 pounds of fresh Centennial.

    Thanks!

    Hops

When you say wet / fresh hops do you mean right off the plant and into the kettle?

      Fresh Hops

General rule of thumb is 5 pounds of fresh or wet for every 1 pound of pellets I like to put mine in the hop back as it is way easier to clean than all those hops in the kettle.

Remember that the difference Fred noted in pounds of wet compared to pellets is water in the fresh hops. This means your wort will be diluted by this many pounds of water. See archive posts on this subject.
