The Associate Brewmaster is responsible for overseeing production and admin activities in the brewery and reports to the Brewmaster while collaborating with the VP of Operations and our team of department leads on daily and long-term plans. This position is responsible for assisting the Brewmaster in direct management of all brewhouse employees (brewers and cellar workers) in addition to creating a collaborative work environment with packaging, QA/QC, and office support staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in scheduling of brewhouse staff responsible for wort production, fermentation, dry hopping, fruit addition, yeast management, CIP, and yeast management.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training of new brewing staff members
- Assist in development and management of SOP creation for all brewhouse / cellar operations
- Maintain an active role in the daily brewing process (including shift brewing)
- Identify improvement opportunities in recipes, brewing processes, and quality assurance
- Formulate production strategies for new brewing processes
- Review weekly and monthly brewhouse efficiency metrics
- Develop, implement, and evaluate improvement initiatives designed to facilitate greater production efficiencies and quality
- Ensure raw ingredients PARs are maintained and scheduling of deliveries
- Ensure documentation SOPs are followed by brew staff
- Participation as an active member of Rogue Management team, developing brewery policies, procedures and protocols
- Maintain facility and ensure equipment is kept in optimal working condition
- Be an advocate, mentor and coach to a world class team of passionate craftsmen and women
- Ensure a safe working environment for employees
- Enforce compliance with local, county, state, and federal government safety requirements
