    Job Description & Position Summary:

    Luminous is a taproom and community focused brewery located in Sheridan, WY. Luminous has been open since 2013 and in the past 2 years has experienced growth of 96%. As the Head Brewer, you are autonomous and experienced, with the ability to take initiative in all aspects of managing our production facility. Ideally, you should have at least 3 years or more and experience on a 10-barrel brewhouse system or of similar sizes. You hold the value of servant-leadership and passion for craft beer and people. A drive for producing consistently high-quality beer should be shown through your daily activities, utilizing a great work ethic, a positive attitude and a desire to teach and learn new processes. Collaboration and humility are essential. We are a small business with a close-knit and dynamic team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Proven experience in complex recipe formulation – we like creativity!
    • Positive and professional attitude that enjoys visiting with customers and accounts.
    • Inventory planning and management, ordering, organizing, and keeping inventory for all ingredients and chemicals needed
    • Documentation of all aspects of brewing, transferring, kegging, compliance, etc.
    • Knowledge and experience in packaging and cleaning kegs
    • Extremely quality-driven with a big focus on cleanliness and hygiene; must work clean, just not clean at the end of the day
    • Training/coaching cellarmen or assistants
    • Self-starter, proactive - able to work independently and shows initiative to make things happen and improve results
    • Creation and implementation of documents such as brewery SOPs, brew logs, etc.
    • Knowledge of chemicals used in operations/cleaning cycles and how to handle and use them safely
    • Proficient in yeast management procedures including cell density and viability counts, storing, propagating and harvesting yeast
    • Experience working successfully with mixed cultures and wild yeasts
    • Ability to work within MS Excel, Google Drive, and brewery management software
    • Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards
    • Monitoring and maintaining all cooling equipment from freezer chests to a large glycol chiller and everything in between
    • Maintain all production equipment and small repairs to pumps, etc.
    • Ability to leave the egos outside of the workplace & make grievances right when needed; give and receive constructive criticism
    • Must have a positive attitude and want to be a part of a team that truly works together, not just talk about it
    • Experimentation with non-alcoholic options and seltzers
    • Maintenance of taproom lines, stock, and troubleshooting, as needed
    • History and ability to delegate and monitor tasks at hand.
    • Assisting with outdoor events and catered events
    • Additional requirements, as requested or necessary

    Other Required/Desired Abilities and Philosophies:
    • An innate drive to expand skill sets and to gain new knowledge
    • The objectivity to know the things you do not know and take direction when necessary
    • A work ethic that does not require constant re-motivation
    • A creative outlook and approach to solving problems and generating new ideas— we don't want robots!

    • Ability to lift heavy objects - i.e. kegs and bags of grain
    • Basic ‘handyman’ skills are a bonus as we have to maintain, repair, and create around our building


    We Offer:
    • $38,000-$46,000 annual salary DOE
    • Moving stipend & reduced rent
