Position: Head Brewer/Operations Manager
Employer: Wolf Point Brewery (Chicago, IL)

Position Description:

The Head Brewer/Operations Manager guides, manages, and physically performs all of the responsibilities of the turnkey brewing operation from start to finish. This position is with a startup brewery in Chicago, and will be the most important position in the company at its early stages. Serious applicants with prior experience only please.

Initial Responsibilities Include:

• Recipe Formulation
• Researching and Establishing a Contract Brewer/Alternating Proprietorship Relationship
• Hiring of Assistant Brewer (If Necessary)
• Manage Supplies (Equipment, Ingredients, Inventory, etc.)
• Manage Beer Production
• Additional Miscellaneous Tasks Associated With a Startup

Primary Objectives:

• Develop custom recipes that can be scaled and help develop the Wolf Point brand
• Produce beer with an emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, and attention to detail
• Pioneer Wolf Point brewing culture and own the brand

Specific Responsibilities of the Job:

Recipe Formulation – As the head brewer, your first task will be creating Wolf Point’s recipes from scratch and scaling them to production. This includes helping determine Wolf Point’s ideal product mix, small batch testing, and full scale production of Wolf Point beer.
Establishing Relationships (Contract Brewer/Alternating Proprietorship) – Wolf Point will begin operations by either contracting out the brewing (with the caveat that we can bring in our own brewer), or establishing an alternating proprietorship with an existing brewery. The Head Brewer/Operations Manager will be responsible for establishing this relationship and helping make a determination on the most effective production plan.
Additional Miscellaneous Tasks Associated With a Startup – Starting a company is extremely difficult and it will take each member of the team working together to achieve a common goal to be successful. The company will be short staffed in its early stages and every member of the team will be expected to go above and beyond, even if the job is outside of their defined scope of responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience with Recipe Formulation (Samples encouraged but not required)
• 1+ Years of Experience as a Head Brewer in a Brewery / Restaurant or Other Relevant Experience
• High School Diploma
• Coursework with an Accredited Brewing School a Plus
• Superior Interpersonal Skills and an Ability to Work and Communicate Well with Others
• Organized and Detail Oriented
• Excellent Critical Thinking/Problem Solving Skills
