Position Overview
The Head Brewer position is a key component of our brewery operation. This person will be building up a new brewery with their creativity, innovation, and drive. As Head Brewer with South Fork Brewing Company, you will be responsible for all activities of the brewery as well as integral part of our future expansion. This position will start as part-time; however, it is anticipated the position will become full-time in approximately one year.
Responsibilities
• Perform and oversee all brewing and packaging operations
• Beer transfers, filtration, and carbonation
• Cleaning and sanitation of all brewing equipment, fermentation vessels, brite tanks, transfer and packaging equipment
• Cellaring
• Barrel-aging beer
• Ordering of all brewing materials
• Cleaning and filling kegs
• Managing assistant/apprentice brewers
Additional Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Organizing and attending off site events
• Conducting brewery tours
• Assisting in the development and execution of on-site events and promotions
• Developing brewing calendar and schedules to achieve planned core & seasonal selections
Qualifications
• A thorough knowledge of the brewing, filtration, and packaging processes
• The ability to operate equipment used in each process
• Previous experience in a production brewery desired
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, on your feet for prolonged periods of time, and ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
• Ability to work on all shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience and passion for new recipe development
• Material ordering, contract management & vendor management
• Yeast propagation and management
• Mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting skills
• Desire to advance in the brewing industry
