POSITION: Master Brewer
REPORTS TO: Management Team
BREWERY: Empirical is one of Chicago’s newest and largest craft breweries - we began brewing in June on a 30-barrel system, and are quickly ramping up to ultimately exceed 35,000 barrels/year. We are currently distributing with six Illinois distributors. As the name implies, we have a strong commitment to experimentation and portfolio refinement based on customer feedback.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have strong brewing knowledge with a minimum of five years professional brewing experience on a 10-barrel or greater system. Experience running a bottling line is preferred, as is a brewing degree/certification. Experience with a Sprinkman system is a significant plus.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and record keeping
Experience with analytical instruments
Strong communication and computer skills
Ability to be flexible with schedule and daily work
Creativity and a strong interest in experimentation
Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
Experience managing and motivating a team, preferably in a brewing environment
