Who we are:
Prairie Sun Brewery is looking for a brewmaster! Our brewery is the second microbrewery to open in Saskatchewan and sits on Broadway Avenue, the heart of Saskatoon. We recently relocated to Broadway to focus more on the internal atmosphere and beer education for our city.
Our mission is to create an exceptional craft beer experience for the people that live in Saskatchewan and the people that visit saskatoon.
Over the past 7 years we have won several business awards and have gained a positive community reputation for great beer and great service.
We previously brewed 60,000L of beer a year but have tripled our brewing capacity with the relocation to Broadway. We brew on a 2 vessel custom brewhouse from Cru brew systems in Chilliwack BC.
Our team is the most important thing to Prairie Sun. We practice open book management where each staff member takes ownership of the numbers. We model our business closely to the Zing group of companies and business in Ann Arbor Michigan.
We have recently bought a 4 head can filler from Wild Goose. We hope to ramp up production as soon as the canner arrives.
We like to brew whatever brings us joy in the moment. We brew many one off beers experimenting with in-season ingredients both in new and classic styles. Our flagship beers are a Belgium Farmhouse Ale, Crazy Farm; and a Porter, Toffee 5.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a new Brewmaster (Leader of the brew team) as our current one is moving into a different part of the craft beer industry. Cameron Ewen, the current Brewmaster is also an owner and will still be a part of the company going forward. As a brewmaster you would be responsible for the wort production, brewhouse scheduling, beer packaging and overseeing all brewery operations. You would assist in; giving brewery tours, television interviews, deliveries, raw material evaluation/management, recipe creation and other daily operations. You would be proficient in SOPs, brew logs, and calibrating/ maintaining equipment.
Alongside the technical aspects of brewing we are also looking for a team player. Someone that is fun, reliable, and ready to work in a fast paced but somehow still very chill environment. You will become one of the faces of Prairie Sun and one of the brand ambassadors.
Compensation and Benefits:

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in the beer industry
- Minimum of 2 years as a head brewer or brewmaster
- Formal brewing education required.
- Flexible with work schedule (AM/PM, weekends and extended hours as needed)Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time
- Ability to work safely on a ladder at heights 8-10’ above floor level
- A passion for brewing and beer culture
- A passion for community both internally and the place we live
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Strong technical ability with basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and refrigeration
- Passion for safety, sanitation and creativity.
- Ability to work collaboratively and think independently
- Strong Communication skills verbally, in email, and in presentation form
