Mastic Trail Brewing, located in Glenshaw, PA is a Caribbean-themed brewpub that is opening in June/July 2020. Mastic Trail caters to guests who are looking to get away and enjoy a mini-vacation in the Pittsburgh suburbs. Guests enjoy island fare, tropical cocktails, and craft beer – both ours and beers brewed by other craft breweries. We have a 10 BBL, 3-vessel, steam-powered brew house and have 4 x 10 BBL fermentation vessels and a 10 BBL brite tank on the way. Total seating is about 150 guests.

Job Summary
The Brewmaster is responsible for beer production and overall brewery operations of a 10 BBL, 3-vessel, steam-powered brewing system. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, fun to be with, energetic, and a brewing operations leader. The Brewmaster will work with the Director of Hospitality Operations, the Head Chef, the Hospitality Captain, bartenders, servers, suppliers and customers.

Job Summary
The Brewmaster is responsible for beer production and overall brewery operations of a 10 BBL, 3-vessel, steam-powered brewing system. The Brewmaster will work with the Director of Hospitality Operations, the Head Chef, the Hospitality Captain, bartenders, servers, suppliers and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and adhere to standard operating and safety procedures in wort production, vessel cleaning and sanitation, yeast handling, fermentation and maturation, sample collecting and filtration operations
- Develop and maintain safety and health standards
- Manage the brewing process, must be able to run a full brew day
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the brewery; i.e., kegging, cleaning, canning
- Develop recipes and formulas to meet market demands and trends
- Complete, enter and maintain daily brewhouse and cellar records (gravities, temperatures, pH, etc.)
- Manage and maintain inventories of grains, yeast, fermenting beer, and finished beer
- Ability to work well with other employees, breweries, public and media
- Manage maintenance schedule
- Flexible to work a varied schedule as business needs arise (including nights, weekends)
- Position requires standing for long periods of time (up to 10 hours), bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and materials weighing 55+ pounds
- Routine pushing, pulling, reaching, upper body and arm rotation, arm extension, and climbing ladders
- Very high noise levels in/around brewing area
- Exposure to various temperature changes
- Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (ear plugs, gloves, boots, etc.)
- Minimum 5 years experience in the craft brewing industry on a 5 BBL or larger brewhouse
- Degree in Brewing Science or Technology or related field preferred, but not required
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Ability to manage and supervise staff
- Focused problem-solver with the ability to stay calm and work under pressure and deadlines
- Comfortable with computers and technology, e.g. – Ekos, Arryved
