    Ritual Brewing Co. – Lead Brewer
    The Ritual Brewing Co. Lead Brewer is responsible for the daily operations of the Brewery, Packaging Area, Fermentation and Cellaring areas. The ideal individual is dedicated to keeping people safe, focused on sanitation with a mind-full eye on costs whilst producing a high quality product ensuring people enjoy every quaffable serving
    Position Summary: Oversee all areas of beer production brewing, cellaring and packaging. Will operate and maintain equipment in the processing of grains, wort, yeast, packages and verify quality product all the way from grain to glass. Additionally operate and maintain equipment needed to package beer in a variety of containers including kegs, bottles and cans. Responsible for documentation of inventories, the upkeep of facilities and protection of assets in the brewery

    • The Lead Brewer at Ritual Brewing is expected to work hard and play hard; as Supervisor, you will be expected to set the pace while creating an environment which encourages healthy raving fans of Ritual Brewing Co…all the while maintaining a slightly warped sense of humor
    Responsibilities
    • Ensure all people are safe at all times
    • Establish training standards and methods of follow-up to ascertain that staff can effectively communicate and document our creation at each step of the process
    • Establish “Standard Practices” of milling, wort production, cellaring, laboratory procedures, packaging, cleaning, safety and documentation thereof
    • Uphold quality standards
    • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of inventories and reports
    • Ensure that all cash and credit transactions are completed with accuracy and efficiency
    • Oversee cleanliness and safety in the Brewery and Rest Rooms
    • Ensure Brew Team appearance and demeanor are professional at all times
    • Compose and post weekly Brew Team schedule
    • Perform weekly inventories and report replenishment needs to direct supervisor as needed
    • Confirm that all posted responsibilities including opening and closing checklists are completed by Brew Team prior to clocking out
    • You will report directly to the Co-Founders, work as a team with Sales and other Ritual Brewing Co. staff members

    Knowledge, Experience and Abilities Required
    • Minimum two years in an active professional brewing, fermentation or distilling environment
    • Continual lifting, dragging, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets, and reservoirs, requiring standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of shift
    • Computer literate with Excel, Word, et cetera
    • Dependable, enthusiastic, cheerful demeanor and willingness to lead and learn
    • Beer knowledge and an understanding of the brewing process are critical
    • Possess exceptional driving record
    • Have a passionate work ethic
    • Display sound judgment and professional maturity
    • Be clean and neat in appearance

    Physical Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to exhibit the physical ability to each perform essential daily duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb, talk, hear, and smell, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
    • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Must be able to participate in critical assessment of beers using all six senses.

    Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    • The work environment is usually that of a brewing and packaging facility
    • Brew Team will frequently must work in a sanitary environment
    • Noise level in the packaging facilities is frequently loud (80+ dB)
    • Regularly work around high voltage, flame, hot water, and steam and steam piping
    • The Brew Team regularly works with hazardous materials of caustics and acids and comes in contact with, and may, handle broken glass
    • Works with and near moving mechanical parts on wet floors and with wet equipment

    Materials, Machines and Equipment used: There are a variety of pieces of mechanical and manual equipment used for this position. One will need to become Forklift and Scissor Lift Operation Certified. Several process pumps are high voltage and are in wet locations Process piping may be under pressure and contain harmful chemicals. Safety gloves, glasses, and coveralls will be an integral part of every work shift.
    • MSDS familiar
    • Establish Safety Protocols
    • Manual grain processing and brewhouse equipment
    • Forklift trucks, scissor lifts, and other man lifts
    • A variety of hand and power tools
    • Cleaning agents and other hazardous chemicals
    • Pumps, hoses, valves, clamps, gaskets, and other brewery equipment
    • Touchscreen machine controls
    • Compressed air or other gasses, including C02 and N2
    Important Skills and talents:
    • Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards
    • An understanding of lock-out/tag-out and other core safety issues
    • Interpersonal skills sufficient to be comfortable working in a team environment with a great deal of interdepartmental coordination
    • The ability and aptitude to work with and troubleshoot equipment
    • The ability to operate a forklift
    • Positive outlook and attitude
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple processes at one time
    • Self-motivated with good time management skills
    • Coordinate with other departments according to schedule
    • Ability to work in a diverse team environment
    • Ability to effectively communicate with staff throughout the brewery
    Ideal Candidate Will Possess
    • 3-5 years of combined experience in brewing, cellar, and packaging demonstrating progressive levels of responsibility.
    • Formal brewing education, trade school or a degree in Biology, Engineering or similar field.
    • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Internet.
    • Prior experience operating a forklift (certification preferred, but training will be provided if needed)
    • Possess the temperament and flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced and energetic environment

    Compensation
    Salary commensurate with experience
