Pontoon Brewing Company, a rising force in the Atlanta craft beer scene, is in search of an experienced head brewer to manage day-to-day brewhouse operations and lead a small team of brewers. - Produce wort on a 10 BBL, 4-vessel pneumatic brew system
- Perform CIP and sanitation of fermenters, brite tanks, and brewhouse
- Manage yeast processes (i.e. harvesting, pitching, cell counts, etc)
- Lead team of brewers in wort production processes
- Hire and train new brewers as needed
- Plan fermentation tank utilization and wort production schedule
- Coordinate with Head of Cellar to plan secondary beer handling and tank rotation
- Coordinate raw material needs with Operations Manager
- Report directly to Brewmaster in order to achieve production goals
- Participates in continuous improvement activities
- Participates in evaluations of packaged product
- Assists with recipe and process development as needed
- Communicates effectively within company channels
- Perform necessary maintenance on equipment as needed
- 2+ years commercial brewing experience
- Degree in Brewing Science or Technology preferred but not required
- Experience and ability to craft recipes on wide range of beers
- Experience with yeast management and propagation
- Experience with mixed and wild fermentation, barrel aging, etc preferred
- Experience with wide range of brewing equipment
- Management and Leadership skills
- Ability to stand for hours at a time and lift 50 to 160 pounds
- Must show attention to detail, be safety-minded, quality-focused, have a great work ethic
