  • Lead Brewer - House of Funk Brewery - North Vancouver, BC Canada

House of Funk is looking to add a member to our brewing team in the role of Lead Brewer!

We are a fun loving, hard working, creative family at House of Funk and are looking for an individual who has the personality and drive to join our brewery team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience working in a brewery and be confident in performing all tasks from wort production to cellaring to packaging.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Lead Brewer will have responsibilities in all areas of brewing operations. Primarily situated in our more production orientated facility, there will be the expectation to perform tasks solo, however there will also be rotating shifts in our smaller, ‘test kitchen’ brewery. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Managing the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the brewing production facility – brewing, cellaring, packaging, yeast management, quality control, and grain handling.
    • Ensuring a safe and regulatory compliant work environment.
    • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment, tanks, and work areas.
    • Maintaining brew sheets, inventory, and necessary paperwork. We use Ekos - previous knowledge of this brewery management system is a bonus, however not necessary.
    • Evaluating and monitoring the quality of beer and raw materials.
    • Carrying out expected QA/QC protocols.
    • Adhering to standard operating and safety procedures in wort production, vessel cleaning and sanitation, yeast handling, fermentation and maturation, sample collecting and filtration operations.
    • Participating in beer festivals and events, once permitted
    • Performing of all tasks involved in the packaging process, including canning + bottling operations and filling kegs.
    • Troubleshooting and reporting any mechanical issues.
    • Other brewery-related tasks that may require assistance.
    • Requires the ability to work in a fast paced, wet, loud production environment on one’s feet for most of the day and repeatedly lift 50 kg+.
    • Ensuring that House of Funk remains and promotes being an inclusive space for all.

Industry competitive salary, benefits and vacation. 40 hours a week.

Our house is located on the traditional and unceded territories of the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. We're doing our best to create and foster a safe and inclusive space for everyone. We want to ensure that every job applicant is treated fairly and with respect, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
