Position:
Assistant Brewer
Start Date: July 1, 2021
Summary:
This position will include all aspects of brewhouse operations, brewery CIP and Sanitation, keg cleaning, packaging in kegs and bottles, yeast handling, cellar operations, maintenance, raw materials handling and other duties while maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment.

Personal Attributes and Requirements:
Must possess effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
Ability to show intelligence, persistence, dedication, competency, and self-motivation with a positive attitude and open mind
Must be able to multi-task and have good time-management skills
Must be detail-oriented and possess a strong sense of punctuality
A valid drivers license, a clean driving record and a clean background check
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically in excellent shape and be able to lift 55# grain bags easily and repeatedly, and full kegs (165#plus) safely and repeatedly
Must be able to stand, sit, crouch, kneel, reach, walk, and climb (but never all at once) and be able to work in a wet and often cold environment
Required Skills:
Ability to adhere to hazard and safety rules and SOPs and possess excellent and uncompromising sanitary habits
Mechanical skills sufficient to diagnose and correct small maintenance issues
Ability to accept constructive feedback, follow direction, and maintain standardized production methods
Ability to correctly utilize hydrometers, pH meters, and basic monitoring tools
The position of Assistant Brewer includes but is not limited to:
Keg washing and filling
Keg deliveries and materials handling between our brewery and offsite warehouse
Cleaning, sanitizing, and filling growlers for CBC take-away.
Cleaning floors and equipment as directed.
Cellar work including tank C.I.P./S.I.P. protocols and finished beer transfers.
Assisting in mashing in, mashing out, and wort production
Monitoring active fermentation and proper reading of SG/*P, following individual fermentation profile requirements, tank bunging, and chilling as appropriate.
Weekend work on a rotating basis (generally one weekend per month) monitoring fermentations and performing any necessary yeast management and cellar work.
This position entails a minimum of 40 hours per work week with additional extended hours as necessary including brief duties on rotating weekends. Employees are expected to maintain sobriety and proper behavior at all times when representing CBC both in-house and at beer-related events, and employees must take personal responsibility in monitoring their alcohol intake and behavior. This job does entail occasional tasting of alcohol beverages while on duty. Please note that for Assistant Brewer positions, CBC is unable to offer relocation benefits to potential employees from outside our local area.
