The Independent Hospitality Group of Pittsburgh (which owns the beer bars The Independent Brewing Company in Squirrel Hill and Lorelei in East Liberty) is hiring a head brewer for a new brewery in Homestead, PA (just a few miles outside of Pittsburgh).
The brewery has a 15 barrel Braukon 2-vessel system with:
The brewery will be focused on both modern and classic expressions of German-styles of beer -- think Kolsch, Bavarian-style weissbier, dry-hopped pilsner, kellerbier, rauch lager, Marzen, and Berliner Weisse — and will be rounded out with a range of American craft styles (with some clever European twists).
The ideal candidate will want to devote themselves to walking the tight rope of making perfect lager. They’ll also have to love biergartens and bowling alleys. A minimum of three years brewing experience is required or 2 years experience with a brewing education.
In addition to brewhouse operation, the head brewer will be responsible for cellar work, packaging, QA/QC, preventative maintenance as well as inventory control and excise tax reporting.

- Lauter tun
- Automation system BrauKon TControl
- Separate whirlpool
- RO water supply
