    Overview

    Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, within walking distance of Bass Pro Shops, The Field House indoor sporting complex, the MidAmerica Center, Horseshoe Casino, and multiple hotels and restaurants, Full Fledged Brewing Company is the first ever craft brewery in Council Bluffs, and features an onsite tap room. Full Fledged produces an extensive variety of craft beer on tap for guests to enjoy on premise or to take home. The ideal candidate for this position will be focused on producing craft beer of the highest quality according to the standards of Full Fledged Brewing Company.

    General Description


    This brewery position will assist the Head Brewer with all brewery related duties including but not limited to milling, mashing, boiling, wort cooling, yeast management, monitoring fermentation, finished beer clarification, carbonating, kegging, canning, maintaining brewery and vessel cleanliness and sanitation, draft line cleaning, maintaining and ordering inventory and raw materials, recipe development, local keg deliveries. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced production brewery. Must have a passion for craft beer and the brewing process. Full Fledged Brewing has been open since July, 2019. We self-distribute locally, and are launching our brand into the state of Nebraska this summer. This is an excellent opportunity to help build the Full Fledged brand, and for advancement for the right candidate.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities are not Limited to
    • Be able to operate a 15-barrel brew house with little to no supervision, proficiently, and safely according to company standards.
    • Brew and produce beer according to recipe and company specifications and quality standards.
    • Perform all brewing operations: milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, cooling, cleaning.
    • Perform all cellar operations: yeast management, cell counting, monitor fermentation and gravities, clean and sanitize all fermentation and finished beer vessels, dry hopping, finished beer clarification.
    • Perform all packaging operations: carbonating finished beer, cleaning and filling kegs, and canning.
    • Perform all quality assurance operations: use various lab equipment for cell counting and pitch rate calculations, daily gravity monitoring and process sampling, finished beer taste panels.
    • Maintain a team leader as well as a team player attitude.
    • Meet brewery financial objectives as they relate to overall brewery goals by controlling cost and inventory.
    • Proper cleaning, sanitation, and maintaining of brew house and all brewery vessels, brewery space, and draft equipment.
    • Coordinate with Head Brewer for beer releases, staff education, and event planning.
    • Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and events.

    Required Skills and Experience
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
    • Excellent people skills with an outgoing and energetic attitude.
    • Demonstrated ability to build & maintain relationships with co-workers, guests, and vendors.
    • Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated while also being a team player.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
    • High level of craft beer brewing and product knowledge.
    • Must posses a clean driving record.
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.

    Preferred Skills and Experience
    • 1+ year(s) experience in a production brewery.
    • Management and personnel training experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of and experience with various hand/power tools.
    • Forklift experience/certification.
    • Inventory management and ordering supplies and raw materials.
    • Experience with brewery inventory software/Ekos Brewmaster.

    Physical Requirements
    • Must be physically able to safely move, roll, lift kegs weighing up to 165 pounds slightly off the ground onto a keg rack or hand truck using proper lifting techniques. Exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
    Working Conditions

    This is a fast-paced work environment that includes equipment and beer keg movement. Hazards and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. Exposure to cold conditions when working/changing kegs in walk-in cooler. Exposure to high temperatures including boiling liquid. Exposure to gasses including carbon dioxide.

    Equipment Used to Perform Job

    3 vessel, 15-barrel brew house. Canning equipment. Various pumps, hoses, clamps and gaskets, hand tools, machinery. Beer kegs, keg couplers, draft lines, draft faucet. Forklift.
