    Stickmen Brewing Company is an award-winning brewery with 2 locations in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. With 2 more taprooms opening within the next 8 months! The pub, our original location, is situated on the lake in Lake Oswego, while our taproom & production facility is in Tualatin. Our Lake Oswego brewery houses our 7BBL system which we use for one-off and experimental beers. Our Tualatin production brewery is home to our 30BBL system, four 60BBL fermenters and two 60BBL brite tanks. The production brewery is responsible for all large batch/packaged beers.

    We currently offer package products in various can and bottle sizes that are distributed in 3 states (OR, WA, CA) and Japan. Stickmen prides itself on variety, execution, creativity, and quality.


    Job Purpose:
    The head brewer’s primary responsibility is ensuring that Stickmen Brewing Company is producing the highest quality beer possible — from grain to package. This includes working as an integral member of our small production team. This is a hands-on position — requiring the head brewer to personally participate in all aspects of the brewing, cellaring, packaging, and facility management.

    Duties include but are not limited to the following:
    • Brewing Operations
    • Facility Management
    • Grain management
    • Raw materials inventory and management
    • Precisely following all brewery recipes for existing beers. Opportunity to create new recipes if desired.
    • Follow existing Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to brewing, cellaring, packaging and authoring / updating SOPs as needed
    • Maintain data records associated with brewing, cellaring, packaging and related activities
    • Managing and developing the talent of the production team
    • Data entry of all appropriate details in the brewery management software (Ekos)
    • Daily gravity readings and recordings
    • Daily CO2/DO reading and recordings as necessary to ensure product quality
    • Maintain turbidity, CO2 and O2 levels within product specifications
    • Manage and maintain brewing equipment-both proactive & reactive maintenance.
    • Manage and maintain production facilities and assist in taproom maintenance
    • Manage and maintain cellar equipment
    • Manage the use of laboratory equipment
    • Oversee and manage packaging department equipment, including kegging equipment, canning line and all associated machinery/supplies
    • Assist in managing inventory control of kegs, cases, cans, labels and all associated materials/supplies
    • Manage yeast husbandry procedures and best practices
    • Oversee and manage operations and maintenance of CIP equipment
    • Provide and receive continual innovation and improvements


    Schedule typically Monday-Friday but may occasionally include weekends and extended hours as needed.




    Requirements:
    • 21 years or older
    • 3+ years of professional production brewing
    • 1+ year Experience in leading a team
    • High cleanliness standards
    • Ability to communicate clearly with their team
    • General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions
    • Forklift certified



    Strongly Preferred:

    • Experience in operating a canning line
    • Previous experience as head brewer
    • Knowledge and experience with barrel-aging program
    • OLCC Servers Permit
    • Cicerone Certified Beer Server Certification or greater
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Makes positive contributions to the work environment and is receptive to continual improvements and added responsibility
    • Experience using EKOs or similar inventory programs
    • Degree in Brewing Science/Fermentation

    • Physical ability to lift 55+ lbs.
