Position: Brewhouse Assistant
As a Brewhouse Assistant for Devil’s Logic Brewing, you will be on the front line completing the daily operations required to produce and package our Award-Winning Beers. Under the direction of the Head Brewer, you will be responsible for maintaining a high level of sanitation within the brewhouse and cellar, participating in packaging operations, cooler management, and sensory paneling.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
➧ Maintain a safety-first attitude
➧ Complete Cellar/Brewhouse tasks according to DLB SOPs
➧ Keg washing & cleaning
➧ Keg filling
➧ Milling of grains
➧ Chemical handling
➧ Brewhouse & Fermentation Vessel CIP
➧ Cleaning of stainless-steel vessels, scrub floors, and drains
➧ Ability to take gravity readings using the Anton Paar EasyDens
➧ Monitoring fermentation including temperature control
➧ Troubleshooting and general maintenance
➧ Participation in sensory panels
➧ Accountability for the upkeep and proper usage of all assigned equipment.
➧ Attention to detail and the ability to take specific direction and follow through.
➧ Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a demanding production environment.
➧ Strong written and oral communication skills.
➧ Settles up all paperwork and procedures on a daily basis on the EKOS platform.
➧ Successful candidates will be trained to:
- Yeast Cell Count/Viability
- Yeast Management
- Dry Hopping
- Carbonation of beer to proper CO2 volumes
Qualifications:
➧ Profound knowledge of craft beer and brewing process; Certified Beer Server or Certified Cicerone preferred
➧ Minimum of one years’ experience working in a brewhouse
➧ Mechanical problem-solving skills
➧ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and calculate.
➧ Able to deal with minor problems in a professional manner
➧ Excellent communication skills
➧ Excellent analytical, organizational skills
➧ Must have the ability to lift and move 35 lbs. cases of beer frequently, and move and place 165 lbs. kegs as needed
➧ Must have flexible schedule and be willing to work some nights, weekends, and extended workdays
➧ Must pass a mandatory pre-hire drug test and submit to random drug tests.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand and walk for long periods of time; use fingers and hands to reach and feel objects; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, twist and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 55 pounds in general environments with up to 165 pounds on occasion. Use of arms above or below the shoulder is sometimes required. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires manual dexterity and ability to quickly move hand(s), grasp, manipulate or assemble. Employees will be active for 8-10 hours a day and must have the ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment dealing with temperature extremes and humidity.
Additional Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (2 forms of identification required at time of hire). Must be at least 21 years old at time of application. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Employment is subject to passing a drug and background check.
Compensation:
Salary based on work experience and abilities.
