Title: Brewer
Reports To: Head Brewer
Status: Full Time/ Hourly

Czig Meister Brewing Company has an immediate opening for a Brewer to join our team in Hackettstown, NJ. We are a growing 15-barrel system, with a 3500-barrel annual brewing production, and an average of 26 different beer styles being produced. Our brewery is looking for a Brewer who has experience in cellar operations and wishes to continue to develop their skills and expand their brewing knowledge.

Brewer Summary:
As a Brewer at Czig Meister, you will assist the head brewer in the day to day operation of our beverage production. You will work with the head brewer to ensure consistent quality across all of our beverages. The brewer will assist with packaging, testing, cleaning and managing inventory. This person must be driven to ensure all operating systems are clean and functioning properly. You will be working with other members of the team to ensure all beverages that leave the facility are of the highest quality.

A. General Duties
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with brewhouse operations (i.e. milling, mashing, lautering, etc.)
  • Ensuring that the lab work is done properly and in a timely fashion
  • Ensuring that the paper work and associated reporting is done accurately and on time
  • Yeast management (harvesting, pitching and viabilities)
  • Tank management (gravity checks, trub dumps and dry-hopping)
  • CIP/Sanitization on all vessels (fermenters, heat exchanger, mash tun, kettle, and brite beer tanks
  • Troubleshooting, technical maintenance and quality assurance
  • Receiving and storing deliveries properly
  • Maintain an inventory of raw materials, brewery supplies and kegs
  • Bottling/Kegging/Canning
  • Continual development of ones own knowledge about beer and brewing



Necessary Skills and Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience in a commercial brewery or formal degree from an accredited brewery program.
  • Requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage one's self and work in an efficient manner and interact with other team members effectively and professionally.
  • Requires the ability to work in a fast paced, wet, loud production environment on one’s feet for most of the day and repeatedly lift 55lbs
  • Team player, ability to work with the lead brewer to further company goals
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of the beer industry, including flavors, brewery technology and ingredients
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver license
