    The role of Lead Brewer performs all the duties of the Brewer/Cellar Person and is also a role model and communicator for the brewing team. The Lead Brewer position will cover a variety of shifts and days of the week depending on current department needs. This position will report to the Brewing Manager.

    Essential Responsibilities:
    • Is a safety champion and role model for the brewing team.
    • Communication facilitator and contact point for daily efficiency optimization; communication with the brewing team and with the brewery management (Brewing Manager, Technical Director, and Director of Brewing Ops).
    • Performs and is proficient in all brewing and cellar operations including; cellaring, wort production, cleaning, yeast handling, CIP’s, transferring, centrifuging, fining, oak barrel filling and emptying, etc.
    • Assists in daily prioritization and collaboration with Brewing Manager and brew/cellar team.
    • Facilitates training of the brew/cellar team and seeks additional responsibilities.
    • Assists in development of SOP and keeping SOP’s current.
    • Has the superhuman ability to visually see oxygen ingress into a tri clamp.
    • Keeps brewery cleanliness up to standards.
    • Is an aid to the organization of the facility; labeling, storing, sorting, rotating stock, removing unused items, purchasing small items, etc.
    • Assures that brewery maintenance is up to date and complete.
    • Is a record keeping champion and record keeping error troubleshooter.
    Required Skills and Qualifications
    • 3+ years of experience working in a production brewery
    • Must possess a positive, can-do mentality
    • Enthusiasm for cross departmental teamwork is necessary
    • Technical experience with brewing equipment and/or brewing education strongly preferred
    • Able to work first and second shifts and weekends on a fixed and/or rotating schedule
    • Effective communication skills and the ability to positively engage with others
    • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
    • A desire to learn and grow as a professional in our industry
    • A love of beer and working in a fun team-oriented environment
    • A great sense of humor and the ability to laugh at oneself
    • A keen sense of the difference between awesomeness and not awesomeness
    • Competence in Microsoft Office and/or similar applications
    Physical Requirements
    • Standing for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours per day)
    • Ability to move heavy materials (lifting to 55 lbs., moving up to 160 lbs.)
    • Climbing ladders in accordance with safety protocols
    • Ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound
    • Routine pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, climbing, bending
    • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
