    Assistant Cidermaker
    Location: Hampton, Virginia
    Status: Full-Time


    Sly Clyde Ciderworks is scaling up its Hampton, Virginia production, and we need someone to come and grow with us. Located blocks from the beach and bathed in sunlight, Sly Clyde sells Virginia’s finest beach-based cider in bars, restaurants, and its award-winning taproom. With the consumer demand soaring, an upcoming expansion strategy in place, the growth potential is astronomical.

    We are seeking a craft-beverage player that can join our award-winning cider production team, as Assistant Cidermaker. Skill sets in brewing, wine/cidermaking or distilling required with a focus on fermentation, sanitation, and collaboration. We need somebody that is willing to put in the effort, take pride in the ciders, and enjoy the ride.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Assist in all areas of cider production, including juice intake, fermentation, filtration, and packaging
    • Participate in warehouse and cellar organization, use of forklifts and box-trucks
    • Facilitate packaging operations including canning line, kegs, and pasteurizer
    • Understand and apply the importance of sanitation and proper chemical handling
    • Contribute to product development, staff education, and customer interaction
    • Perform in a small and efficient team setting
    Required Experience
    • Required 1+ years working in production at a cidery/brewery/winery; completion of a craft beverage production program a plus
    • Practical knowledge of fermentation, sanitation, and cellar equipment
    • Problem solving, organization, and flexibility are key with an imaginative and creative mind
    • Strong, independent work ethic, communication skills, and mechanical ability
    • Enthusiasm for the experience, the product, and the brand, while operating as a team player in a small and tightly knit team
    • Flexible schedule: ability to work various hours, sometimes on short notice
    • Experience with forklift, pallet jack, box truck
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Ability to physically operate a standing or sitting forklift
    • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts with moderate noise levels
    • Ability to stand for long periods at a time
    • Ability to frequently and safely lift and/or move up to 160 pounds
    • Frequently and safely exposed to strong chemicals
    • Vision: close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
