Shevet, meaning ‘Tribe’ in Hebrew, is a craft brewery and distillery located in the heart of Pardes Hana, Israel - a hub of creativity and culinary cuisine. We’re looking for an experienced brewer to join our brew crew to continue making beer of the highest quality, while creating and refining new beers. Our brewhouse is steam powered All-In-Process automation. Braukon 30 HL (Braucontrol) 25 BBL (US).
Our Brewer position encompasses all aspects of brewing production and operations. We are seeking a hardworking, responsible, and self-motivated team member with a passion for creating exceptional beers for our Tribe of customers.
The Brewer is an integral part of ensuring that our beer is brewed & processed as scheduled, per SOP and recipe specifications, and adheres to quality specs throughout operations to achieve the highest levels of efficiency, consistency, and quality for our customers. Natural leadership, integrity, loyalty, and a good sense of humor are all factors we additionally value in those we hire.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operating brewhouse and producing batches from start to finish
Yeast handling and management
Cellaring duties including fermentation management
CIP of brewing and fermentation tanks, and other equipment
Logging of all brewing related notes from brew day through fermentation, finishing, and packaging
Following (and creating when not existing) SOP’s in each phase of brewing, fermentation, packaging, and quality control
Maintaining clean brewing practices in the brewhouse and cellar
Executing preventative maintenance on all brewhouse and cellar equipment
Monitoring raw material inventory
Requirements
At least seven years’ experience in a small to medium commercial production brewery
An advanced understanding of all aspects of brewing including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitization
Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking / problem solving skills
Computer literate with an understanding of Microsoft Office/spreadsheet programs
Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team
Additional Preferred Experience
Associates degree in science
Brewing diploma or certificate
An understanding of quality assurance (QA) methods and techniques, laboratory operations, and basic knowledge of chemistry and biology
Prior packaging, bottling, and racking experience
Development of Hard Cider & Seltzers as well as RTD’s
Forklift operation or certification
Physical Requirements
Physical work including climbing stairs, occasionally climbing into lauter tank, pulling hoses, etc.
Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals (Caustic, Paracetic acid)
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
