  • New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins is looking for a Wood Cellar Technician for hire

    This position has primary responsibility for all brewing processes as they pertain to the Wood Cellar from the mixing and blending of raw materials to the fermented product, finishing, packaging and quality assurance.

    Responsibilities (but not limited to):
    • Responsible for material addition per recipe and production and routinely monitors inventory levels
    • Monitors all process parameters: Sensory, flow rates and volumes, process times and temperatures, pH levels, density measures, and other parameter settings to complete the brewing of base beers, fermentation, physical and microbiological stabilization, storage, transfers, acidification, blending and bottle conditioning
    • Supports the alignment and communication wood cellar production needs with associated departments and resources
    • Conducts and ensures daily cleaning and constant improvement of all work areas within the wood cellar (6S program)
    • Performs routine preventative and troubleshooting maintenance on process manufacturing equipment, tools and, especially to all barrels and foeders
    • Engages in quality assurance activities and improvement project/processes to improve the overall efficiency and ensures in process and finished product specifications
    • Adheres to OSHA and NBB safety regulations; handles all chemicals in a safe manner
    • Communicates effectively with all other areas regarding the status of the process flow and consistency
    • Represents New Belgium at events, sour beer festivals or other promotions identified and planned by the Marketing Department and Wood Cellar Director
    • Other duties as assigned
    Desired Skills/Experience (but not limited to):
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Brewing knowledge with aptitude to learn brewing science
    • Basic knowledge and understanding in the areas of math, physics, chemistry, microbiology, computer skills and mechanical skills
    • Working knowledge of equipment with multiple logic functions and capabilities requiring specialized training
    • Ability to coordinate with coworkers, prioritize plan daily work
    • Ability to recognize a problem, assist in troubleshooting, develop alternative plans, meet deadlines, and communicate as needed
    • Solid interpersonal skills and communication abilities
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures policies, SOGs, and/or regulations

    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 56.5 lbs. and carry objects of this weight up to 100 feet.
    • Ability to push/pull weights up to 50 lbs. and maintain the grip strength required to adjust valves, containers and hose nozzles.
    • Ability to demonstrate their ability to climb, kneel, crawl, twist, squat and reach overhead.
    • The position requires frequent, constant standing.

    Hourly Wage Range: $20.00 - $22.50
