    Second Line Brewing seeks Professional Brewer

    Second Line Brewing, a craft brewery and beer garden located in the heart of New Orleans, is looking for a passionate, hardworking Brewer with packaging experience to join our small, tight knit work community. This position comes with a significant amount of responsibility as well as freedom for creative expression. As a brewery we emphasize teamwork, continuous improvement and a deep commitment to our staff and community. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious person.

    As a Brewer, you will play an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the brewery with proficiency in:
    • Grain handling;
    • Wort production;
    • Fermentation;
    • Yeast management;
    • Quality control including aseptic technique;
    • Working with adjuncts during all phases of beer production;
    • Cleaning;
    • Sanitization;
    • Canning & bottling;
    • Inventory management/control;
    • Good mechanical abilities;
    • Environmental safety in the brewery environment;
    • Personnel oversight.

    The physical demands of this position are considerable and include working in hot and cold conditions. The candidate should be able to lift a minimum of 60lbs, work at a height greater than 10 feet, perform the other physical tasks commensurate with the position. The individual must have professional brewing experience and a passion for creating and sharing great beer with others. This incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule including working on nights and weekends.

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Manage raw material and finished goods inventory.
    • Ensure the quality assurance and safety programs keep pace with innovation and growing complexity of the brewing processes. List to include but not limited to HACCP and 5S to drive effective quality control and sanitation.
    • Drive brewery’s achievement by developing and executing a release plan that is aligned with the long term growth plans of the brewery.
