    Boundary Bay Brewing Company is looking for a quality-focused, innovative, and passionate Head Brewer to lead our brewing team with compassion, humility, empathy and maturity. The Head Brewer must be comfortable as an active participant in all facets of brewery production operations.
    • Manages day-to-day production operations focusing on organization, cleanliness, and maintaining a positive working environment.
    • Plans and manages production schedule with Distribution Manager to efficiently meet production goals ensuring there are not out-of-stock situations.
    • Ensures products meet the highest quality standards.
    • Ensures product demands are met in a timely and consistent fashion.
    • Works with R & D to maintain new product development via recipe formulation and innovative techniques.
    • Manages employee schedules, trains new team members and works with HR for any job performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
    • Interface with Front of House to educate and inspire team members
    • Ability to see the big picture and adjust accordingly
    • Builds strong team cohesion by maintaining a positive attitude, being engaged, approachable, and highly communicative.
    • Sources inventory of all ingredients and maintains strong partnerships with vendors.
    • Maintains situational awareness of utilities: boiler, liquor tank levels glycol, as they relate to daily operations and correct any issues as they arise.
    • Maintains and works with the team to ensure SOPs are completed by members in a consistent, safe, and efficient manner.
    • Reviews, approves, and submits all department invoices, BOLs and invoices within the required accounting timeframes.
    • Maintains meticulous records for all brewing operations.
    • Strives for continuous improvements in beer quality, consistency, and cost.
    • Works closely with Packaging teams on the production brew and effectively communicates any changes.
    • Actively communicates any delays or issues pertaining to brewhouse or cellar activities to necessary departments.
    • Ensures yeast management parameters are followed throughout the entire process.
    • Participates in or delegates monthly inventory counts of all raw materials and finished goods reconciling any variances.
    • Identifies capital improvements to increase the overall effectiveness of brewing operations.
    • Work closely with the Accounting department to ensure TTB and State taxes are up-to-date and accurate.
    • Must utilize brewery software for production, inventory and reporting (currently using EKOs)
    • Flexible scheduling to work day, night, or weekend shifts when necessary.
    • Develop and maintain strong working relationship with owners and management with the ability to take direction.
    • Ability to work within set communication styles (email / text / discord / etc)
    • All other duties assigned

    • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
    • Passion for craft beverage production
    • Ability to pivot with a sense of urgency
    • Passion for quality, process improvement, and attention to detail.
    • Mechanically inclined with equipment operation experience and strong ability to troubleshoot.
    • Strong physical ability – able to frequently lift 55+ lbs, and frequently bending, reaching, crouching, and crawling.

    • 5+ years of brewing experience, 5+ years of leadership or management experience.
    • Strong technical brewing background with formal brewing or engineering education a major plus.
    • Forklift Certification
