  • Brewer/Cellar Position at Resident Culture Brewing - Charlotte, NC

Resident Culture is a five year old locally owned and operated brewery located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte, NC and we are growing! We have a strong focus on carefully crafted lager beer, assertive hop forward ales, fruited sours, and barrel aged stouts and mixed culture ales. We consider our beer quality to be extremely important but secondary to how we treat our employees and the human connections we make. We highly value each of our employees and have created a tight family community amongst our staff and are looking to expand our family by adding a full time brewer and cellar person to our team. In addition to finding someone with the necessary technical skills and experience we are principally looking for individuals who fit our company culture and are in strong alignment with our company core values which we take very seriously.

Why we think you will enjoy working with us:

The brewer will work hand in hand with our lead brewer and our QC lead to help complete all cellar work (including transfers and tank cleaning) and all wort production on our 15BBL three vessel steam fired brew house. This person will have collaborative input and will be part of an open and supportive team. We are a dynamic brewery that is continuously refining our recipes, ingredients and approach in search of a better final product and we want you to be a part of that process. We take a team approach to everything, no one here is above any job and we expect the person we hire to share that same attitude. We are currently brewing about 4,000BBLs and have a large expansion plan in the works with the goal of tripling our production over the next 2-3 years. We anticipate opportunities for growth and like to promote and grow our employees from within. Other things we think you'll enjoy:
    • Competitive compensation
    • Great health benefits (75% Paid by Resident Culture), vision, dental
    • Flexible time off policy with no set limit on paid time off
    • Little to no weekend work and no graveyards
    • Free beer and discounts at our two Charlotte locations
    • Paid travel for beer collaborations and festivals
    • Paid educational conferences and professional development
    Qualifications:
    • At least 2 years of brewing experience working in a pub or production brewery setting with hands on brewing and cellar work experience
    • Able to lift 55lbs
    • Forklift experience
    • Able to work full shifts on your feet
    • Positive attitude and team player
    • High attention to detail
    • Good at multitasking
    • Great work ethic and communication skills
    Job Responsibilities:
    • Wort production on our QTS manual 15BBL three vessel (mash mixer, lauter tun, kettle/whirlpool) brew house from start to finish
    • Completion of all cellar tasks including:
      • Beer transfers using a fully automated GEA HB25 with STRONG emphasis on low dissolved oxygen pickup
      • dry hopping and rousing
      • tank cleaning and CIP
      • Yeast handling: Sterile collection and pitching
      • Tank shaves/dumps
      • regular DO and Carb readings
    • Keg cleaning and filling and general cleaning duties
    • Operation of our 6-head CODI canning line - NOTE: we are hoping to cross train our team on operation of our canning line but to be clear this hire will be operating the canning line infrequently
    • Helping out on packaging when needed including:
      • Pack off on our canning line
      • helping bottle our mixed culture beers on our gravity filler
      • helping can our mixed culture beers by hand

We are hoping to fill this position as soon as possible.

Please send your resume, cover letter, and at least two references to Chris Tropeano at tropes@residentculturebrewing.com. Be sure to mention what styles of beers you most like to drink and mention a handful of the beers/breweries that are an inspiration to you. We promise to respond in a timely manner.
