JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently run all aspects of local brewpub’s on-site brewing operations.
- Develop fresh, innovative beers across largely-varied styles to be featured at local brewpub and potential other brewpub locations. Establish recurring brands as well as seasonal and single batch beers.
- Constantly innovate in the use of standard and atypical ingredients as well as fermentation methodologies to produce forward-thinking brews.
- Maintain stringent safety and quality standards in line with defined company policies/procedures.
- Track and maintain local brewing inventory. Source and purchase inputs.
- Work with pub staff to increase their beer knowledge and promote the love of craft beer
- Coordinate with brewing leadership as well as other company departments to create unique one off beers as well as scheduled release deadlines.
- Attend local and out-of-town brewing competitions and events to present and speak about beers to small and large groups. Drive local beer release events at the pub.
- Collaborate with peer innovation brewers within other internal brewery and pub locations in new beer development and execution.
- Supervise 1 to several on-site brewing personnel.
- Bachelor's degree in brewing/fermentation, chemical engineering, or relevant discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of solid experience in modern craft innovation brewing. Strong reputation and references within brewing community preferred.
- Track record of brewing innovation awards at local, regional, and national competitions preferred.
- Leadership and personnel management skills.
- Excellent communication skills - Able to effectively deliver presentations and speak to large groups in formal and informal settings regarding.
- Strong understanding of emerging concepts and approaches in brewing methods, inputs, etc.
- Knowledge of food and chemical safety regulations and procedures.
- Must be willing to travel 25-50% for brewing events, competitions, networking, etc.
