  • Head Brewer

    We are advertising for a motivated, creative, and passionate individual to be head brewer on a 15-barrel system located in western NC. This is a full-time position with salary ranging from $45,000 to $55,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Other benefits include shift beer, free lunch, moving allowance, and flexible hours. We strive for a maximum of 40 hrs/wk but during our busy season we may require extra hours and some weekends.

    Duties include:

    • Lead the production of existing and new products
    • Oversee daily brewing operations
    • Work side by side with assistant brewer on production floor – on all tasks from milling to canning
    • Oversee all quality control and brew house standard SOPs
    • Manage production schedule and work directly with packaging
    • Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and other necessary supplies
    • Manage vendor relationships and raw material ordering
    • Manage distributor relationships
    • Keep accurate and organized daily production records
    • Working with assistant brewer, develop new recipes and see them through from concept to final product
    • Keep up to date with new and emerging trends, styles, ingredients, and processes in the industry
    • Must have high mechanical aptitude for maintaining, trouble-shooting, and repairing standard brewing and packaging equipment

    Requirements:

    • 3-years of professional brewing experience
    • Hands-on leadership skills and the ability to work well both with a team and independently
    • Expert-level knowledge of brewing processes, brewery science, and quality control
    • Experience in new recipe development
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Strong understanding of ingredient sourcing
    • Must be able to regularly lift 55 lbs to shoulder height, and occasionally up to 170 lbs.
    • Strong work ethic and the ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing situations
    • Positive attitude and excellent problem-solving skills
    • Must have a passion and excitement for the craft beer industry
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, EKOS, and related software
