Fourscore Beer Co is a 7BBL brew pub located in historic Gettysburg, PA. We pride ourselves on offering ‘something for everyone’ in the large variety of creative beers we serve. Our full kitchen serves as a nice complement to our beers.

Head Brewer Job Description:
This position includes all aspects of bringing new beers to market. From new recipe development to all brewing and cellaring tasks, brewhouse operations, yeast handling, cleaning, and packaging. Candidate will have full creative control.

Responsibilities

• Plan, operate and oversee all aspects of the 7 BBL on-site brewing operations. Including, but limited to, raw materials handling, brewhouse operation, cellar management and brewery sanitation.
• Work with brewery team to create and develop innovative beers to include a large variety of styles.
• Constantly innovate in the use of standard and atypical ingredients as well as fermentation methodologies to produce forward-thinking brews.
• Maintain safety protocols and oversee quality control and brewing standards.
• Manage vendor relationships and raw material ordering.
• Track and maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and supplies.
• Keep accurate and organized daily production records
• Work with service staff to increase their beer knowledge and receive customer feedback.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair standard brewery and packaging equipment.
• Represent our brand as needed for external events, festivals, tours, and/or interviews.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum two years professional brewing experience. Strong reputation and references within brewing community preferred.
• 7-10 BBL system experience.
• Formal brewing education preferred.
• Experience in new recipe development.
• Expert level knowledge of brewing processes, brewery science, and quality control.
• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of ingredient sourcing.
• Strong time management skills and work ethic. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, keep attention to detail and adapt to changing situations.
• Hands-on leadership skills with the ability to work well both with a team and independently while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Strong organizational, communication, computer and record keeping skills.
• Solid understanding of emerging concepts and approaches in brewing methods, inputs, etc.
• Knowledge of food and chemical safety regulations and procedures.
• Ability to lift 50lbs safely and repeatedly.
• Work in hot/cold and wet environments that require twisting, bending, and pulling.
• Stand for the duration of an 8 hour+ shift.
• Use a ladder.
• Use of forklift.
