Assistant Brewer / Cellarman
Cabarrus Brewing Company, Located in Concord NC is looking for an experienced, professional, and motivated team member to help with the day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is someone who has previous experience working in a professional production brewery, and have brewing, cellar, and packaging knowledge.
Position Details:

- FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt
- Monday through Friday, holidays off
About the Position:
This person will be responsible for assisting the head brewer with wort production and maintaining a safe and efficient production facility. Duties will include, but will not be limited to brewing, maintaining a clean cellar, documenting fermentation, beer transfers, dry-hopping, CIP, carbonation, organizing and cleaning coolers/warehouse and packaging.
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
- Wort Production
- Measuring pH
- Milling Grain
- Oxygenating wort
- Dry hopping and recirculating dry hops in fermenters
- Day to day gravity checks on fermenting products
- CIP of brewhouse, fermenters, brite tanks and packaging line
- Adhering to all SOP
- Transferring beer to brite tanks in a sanitary manner
- Carbonation using a Zahm
- Transferring beer to and from barrels
- VDK checks
- Lagering and spunding beer
- Filling, cleaning and organizing kegs
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair brewery and packaging equipment related problems - Dry and cold storage inventory checks/counts
- Ensure proper and safe handling of all chemicals
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to work in hot and cold conditions for extended periods of time
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicant must be 21 or older to apply
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation
- Not a jerk
Preferred Candidate:
- 2 or more years working in a professional brewery with knowledge of brewing, celler work, and packaging
- Thorough knowledge of brewing process, craft beer culture and the beer industry and a commitment to quality
- A desire to constantly improve your knowledge of all aspects of craft beer
- Experience operating a forklift
- Cicerone certifications
- Has a great attitude and desire to come in early, or stay late when needed - Attention to detail, and desire to work efficiently
- Desire to help with events, give tours, and attend/work beer festivals
- Knowledge of barrel ageing and barrel maintenance
- Knowledge of packaging line
- Lab experience (Cell counts, HLP, VDK tests, yeast propagation)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
- Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
- Must be able to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
- Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 55lbs
- Must be able to use a ladder, and often work at heights above 10 feet
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to work weekends and nights on occasion
