As a Head Brewer, you will work with our Director of Operations and production team on our 50HL brewhouse, in addition to that you will have the opportunity to work in whisky cask warehousing, peat-smoking, bottling, and packaging. You will be expected to obtain a 5th class boiler ticket – for which training will be provided. Ultimately, you will also be cross trained in distillation and ‘wash’ fermentation.

$50,000 to $60,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities: Reports to the Director of Operations, or his designee, and participates in all brewery & distillery & functions, including but not limited to:
- Manage day to day production operations and focusing on organization, cleanliness, and maintaining a positive working environment
- Be a strong team player and lead by example in cohesion by maintaining a positive attitude, being engaged approachable, and highly communicative
- Plan and manage production schedule to meet production goals ensuring adequate stock inventory is maintained
- Ensure quality, consistency and efficiency
- Ensure products meet the highest quality standards and that product demands are met in a timely and consistent manner
- Manage production schedules, training of new team members and oversees all aspects of the brewing operations
- Independently operate the 50HL brewhouse, transfer, finish, keg, and package beer as needed and production of wash for distillation
- Oversee and ensure the development of Standard Operating Procedures throughout brewery operations
- Interface with Taste Room staff to educate and inspire team members
- Work with the brewery team to create and develop innovative beers to include a large variety of styles
- Keep accurate and organized daily production records
- Manage vendor relationships and raw material ordering
- Other duties as assigned
Skills / Requirements:
- Minimum two years of professional brewing experience is mandatory
- Able to multitask and thrive in a fast paced, multi faceted operation
- Experience in recipe formulation for multiple beer styles
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to perform duties to a high level of standard under minimal direct supervision
- Knowledge of CIP practices and cleaning chemicals
- A Clean Class 5 drivers license is required
- Commitment to securing a 5th Class steam boiler ticket is required (training will be provided)
- Flexible schedule and ‘can do’ work attitude. Shiftwork and weekends will be required
