  • Assistant Brewer/Cellar Technician Toms River , NJ

    Toms River Brewing is actively seeking the right candidate for an Assistant Brewer/Cellar Technician position with our expanding brewery. We operate a 25bbl Alpha Brewing Operations brew house as well as a 5bbl Blichmann Engineering brew house for R&D with a capacity to produce 5,000bbl/year. Currently we distribute throughout New Jersey as well as into New York State. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and quality products in the market from our award winning brewery.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
    At least two years’ of experience brewing and/or cellaring in a small to mid-sized craft brewery
    · Competence in measuring, converting and recording various volumes that are needed in the processes.
    · Operation of 5bbl, 3-vessel brew house.
    · Safely operates grain milling and spent grain handling operations.
    · Fermentation monitoring and recording of vital actions.
    · CIP/SIP of all brewery vessels per our SOP that are in place.
    · Smartly transfers wort and beer to maintain greatest efficient.
    · Yeast harvesting, pitching and health management (cell counts/viability/pitch rate calculation).
    · Safely handle all dry hopping operations with a keen attention to tank size, volume, temperature and pressure.
    · Fining additions as well filtration operations.
    · Carbonation processing carried out per SOP per beer style.
    · Manual cleaning of equipment and parts
    · Basic brewery equipment maintenance (e.g.- pump seal replacement, mill belt replacement)
    · Keg washing and filling
    · Canning line operation assistance; currently we use a mobile canning line with our team assisting their operators.
    · Facilities maintenance (cleaning of floors, surfaces, common areas), general cleanliness is crucial to this position.
    · Raw material and finished product handling (forklift and other equipment operation for warehousing and to load/unload trucks).
    · Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    · Flexibility in schedule to work days, nights and weekends as required; assisting with both on-site and off-site events.
    ·SAFETY
    Able to squat, bend, reach and overall physical agility in small spaces, and stand on your feet for the length of a shift.
    Focused handling of small parts and all equipment necessary to the job to maintain their longevity for proper function.
    Lifting up to 55 pounds from waist to shoulder height repetitively for a given tasking.
    Moving up to 170 pounds at floor level repetitively, required during the kegging process.
    Easy understanding of pallet jack to move pallets of grain and pallets of kegs and cases of beer while maintaining access of raw materials and consumables.
    Working in often hot/wet/cold/humid conditions per the day’s tasking and weather conditions.
    Smartly maintains ladder safety for both yourself as well as your teammates
    ADDITIONALLY
    Forklift experience a plus.

    Siebel or other certificates are a plus but not required.
