    Job Description:

    We are a newly opened brewery looking for a Brew Master to continue the process of establishing ourselves in the growing market of craft beer. As the Brew Master, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of brewing beer at the brewery. You will help to produce a high quality and varying product, moving to different styles as the demand changes from our customers. You will be working closely with our management team, creating beer recipes, production schedules, marketing ideas, and performing management tasks as needed. The Brew Master will also be given the opportunity to make the brewing process their own. We are also open to the position starting on a contract brewing basis.

    Flatiron Brewing is a new brewery, recently opening in Manistique, MI in April 2023. Located along the northern shore of Lake Michigan, Manistique is a destination for summer excursions to the beautiful sites all over the Upper Peninsula, as well as a destination for snowmobiling and other winter activities. Our brewery is a 15 tap microbrewery and quick service restaurant, brewing small batches of only a few hundred barrels per year, while serving up delicious pizza, wings, pasta and salad. The brewing system is a 3.5 bbl Stout, with 4 unitanks, and serving out of kegs from our walk-in cooler.

    • Manage all aspects of brewing and cellar-work to specifications and ensure quality and safety
    • Manage production scheduling, material handling, inventory to ensure efficient operations
    • Participate in recipe formulation and creative innovation
    • Support positive company culture and active team building
    • Maintaining brewery cleaning schedule and sanitation, preventative maintenance, and repairs
    • Monitoring current industry trends and identifying potential competition
    • Federal and excise reports
    • Perform customer relations by working in the front of the house and pouring beer.
    • Assist other parts of the business as needed, including but not limited to: cleaning, inventory, etc.
    • Perform business closing duties as needed.
    • Minimum 3 years previous brewery experience
    • Familiarity with brewery equipment and technology
    • Familiarity with splitting batches of beer to create variety
    • Degree in food science, food technology, microbiology, chemistry, or equivalent preferred
    • Formal brewing education preferred
