  • Brewer for Precarious Beer Project in Williamsburg, VA

Precarious Beer in hella historic Williamsburg, Virginia, is looking for a Brewer to help launch our brand new 10bbl brewery, concert venue, and taco shop, and to help our 7 bbl brewpub continue to thrive.
This Brewer would work closely with the Head Brewer and Brewmaster and would gain many opportunities to contribute, develop, and grow with our rapidly expanding company.
There will be an oak program, progressive and modern lagers, Belgian-style beers, hoppy beers, deep darknesses, a 1 bbl pilot system free to use anytime, and basically anything and everything that we find interesting and that we want to share with our customers.

This Brewer will possess the following qualities:
Have 1-3 years professional brewing experience, or equivalent education or work experience that translates.
Have a solution-oriented attitude; meaning focusing on solutions, not problems or blame.
Have a passionate love for the craft, constant improvement, and challenging ourselves and our assumptions.
Have a ridiculous work ethic because the job has to get done, and done the right way. The right person will always want to put their name on the work they did that day.
Have an awesome sense of humor and contribute to a positive work environment. A vast understanding of 90s alternative music hits is a plus.
Have a knowledge of brewing science and theory and be hungry all the time for learning more.
Be a great manager of your own time and efforts.
Have a love affair with tacos. Because tacos.
Be personable and presentable. We are first and foremost in the hospitality industry and our customers are the most important priority in front and back of house.
Have a desire to be visible and represent the company responsibly at events far and wide.
Have reliable transportation and the ability to show up on time, every time. Reliability is HUGE with us, and it should be with you as well. We are a team and we dont let each other down.
Keep personal drama out of the brewery. You can cry while you grain out or clean kegs and listen to emo in your headphones while you brew a stout as dark as your heart.
Have zero tolerance for bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, racist, and otherwise crazy stupid rhetoric. Beer is for everyone, and we will be welcoming for all.
Have a flexible schedule. We have lots to do and will have to stagger some shifts sometimes. We will try and make it a reliable schedule but production needs are priority.
Be able to do all the physical things like be on your feet for 8-12 hours per day, bending, squatting, pirouetting, and lifting 55 lbs above your head. You should also be able to move 180 lb kegs independently.

Compensation and benefits are competitive and based on qualifications of the candidate. If we like you, well let you know with $$ and beer.
