    Second Line Brewing, located in New Orleans, Louisiana, is seeking a Brewer/Cellar Person, with commercial training and experience to join our small, dedicated team of beer lovers. Established in 2015, Second Line Brewing was founded out of a passion for fermentation, experimentation and a commitment to quality. Over the last three years our production has grown from 360 bbl to 1,800 bbl while continuously improving the efficiency of our operations and the quality of our products.

    The ideal candidate will share our drive to push the boundaries of beer via new ingredients and processes with a spirit of adventure, camaraderie, humor, and inclusiveness.

    Candidates should have a minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience in the entire brewing process: wort production, CIP, fermentation, packaging, and fundamental QA/QC. Good mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot/diagnose and implement minor mechanical repairs are essential.

    Essential Duties:

    · Effective Communicator with Operating brewhouse and producing batches from start to finish

    · Yeast handling and management

    · Cellaring duties including fermentation management

    · CIP (clean-in-place) of brewing and fermentation tanks, and other equipment

    · Logging of all brewing related notes from brew day through fermentation, finishing, and packaging

    · Maintaining clean brewing practices in the brewhouse and cellar

    · Executing preventative maintenance on all brewhouse and cellar equipment

    · Monitoring raw material inventory


    · Ability to work as part of a team

    · Two - three years experience in a commercial production brewery or high-volume brew pub

    · A strong passion for brewing and a desire to push the boundaries of experimental brewing

    · A firm understanding of all aspects of brewing including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitization

    · Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking/problem solving skills

    · Flexibility in terms of hours and a willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and overtime

    · Basic computer literacy including the use of spreadsheets

    · Broad and varied musical taste

    Physical Requirements:

    · Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl

    · Heavy physical work including climbing stairs, climbing into tanks, pulling hoses, etc.

    · Willing to work in wet, hot and cold conditions

    · Willing to work in consistently loud environments

    · Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals

    · Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
