Brewer Position - Gibsons Tapworks, Gibsons, BC
Gibsons Tapworks is looking for a brewer to join our team during these times of growth. We are a microbrewery located in the heart of Lower Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.
This is an opportunity to become a part of a strong community in a beautiful town just a short (40 minute) ferry ride away from Horseshoe Bay / West Vancouver. The ideal candidate will possess an eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate with the Production Director for production needs
Production tasks may include:
Brewing 7 bbl and 1 bbl pilot batches
Packaging on 2 head Meheen, filling and cleaning kegs
Cellaring tasks (transfers, fining, carbonating, gravities, CIPing)
Yeast handling (cell counting, harvesting and repitching)
Collaborating with Production Director on recipe development
Keeping cold room stocked with kegs for front of house
Maintaining the overall cleanliness of the brewery
Keeping meticulous records of brewery operations
Other non-production tasks as required
EXPERIENCE:
1+ years of production experience preferred, though willing to train the right candidate
High level skills on a manual brewhouse
Lab experience an asset
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must be 19+ years of age
Attention to detail
Strong analytical and critical thinking
Mechanical and technical aptitude
Team player yet able to work autonomously
Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and implement procedures for solutions
Able to lift 25kg to shoulder height
Able to lift 65kg with another person to waist height
Focused and calm under pressure
Self driven and motivated
Basic computer and math skills
Class 5 driver's license with clean driving record
OUR BREWERY:
Gibsons Tapworks is a microbrewery in the tourist center of Gibsons, BC. Our goal has always been to engage the town and we pride ourselves on being a community hub. Brewers often interact with customers as our brewing space bleeds into the lounge with only a half wall separating them.
We brew a range of styles and aim to push out as many taproom releases as possible. While our core styles include an award winning Oatmeal Stout, two IPAs, and a Blonde Ale, we frequently experiment with fruit, spice, local ingredients, and experimental styles to make sure there is always something new going on. Our system includes a 7 bbl brewhouse with a mix of 7 and 15 bbl fermenters, 7 bbl serving tanks and a 15 bbl brite.
