    Smith Alley Brewing Company is a small, independent craft brewpub located in the heart of historic Main Street in Sheridan, Wyoming. We have taken our time rejuvenating our phenomenal space and have a small, very efficient 10bbl system that we currently run. We have the capacity to produce 1000 bbls a year with room for expansion. We also utilize small pilot systems proudly offering unique and creative beers to our community.

    We have great pride in our beer and location among a small but thriving craft brew scene here in Sheridan.     The owners have a strong tie to the brewing community nationwide and have worked and built numerous breweries across the US. Here's who they're looking for:

    Qualifications for the Head Brewer position.

    Formal education in a recognized Brewing Science and Technology program & 2-years experience working at a commercial brewing company

    Or

    Minimum 4 years experience working in a right hand man assistant brewer role at an established commercial brewing company.


    -Must be willing to be the face of the brewery.
    -You must possess great people and communication skills, including the ability to interact with the public throughout the day, conduct brewery tours daily and attend all special events. If you are not a people person, please do not apply.
    -Display a high level of professionalism and guest service insight.
    -Strong organizational and scheduling skills, initiative and self-motivation is a must.
    -You will have ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    -Possess a fundamental knowledge of and troubleshooting skills of plumbing and machinery mechanics/maintenance inherent to the brew process.
    -Have a focused skill-set that supports the business of craft brewing.
    -A valid driver's license free of any major violations in the last three years.
    -Ability to lift up to 110 pounds consistently and move 150 pounds.
    -Ability to stand, stoop, bend and work overhead for extended periods of time.
    -Ability to climb ladders, stairs and ramps.
    -Ability to work in small, confined spaces.
    -Ability to work within a loud to moderate continuous noise in work area.
    -Willingness to work with strong and often hazardous chemicals.
    -Must be willing work during any hours of operation including weekends, evenings, and special events as required.
    -Finally, and most importantly you must not be water soluble.


    Job Description

    Head Brewer for Smith Alley Brewing Company: The Head Brewer will manage all aspects of brewing, sanitation, and safety procedures, and conduct server training on all things beer, all while promoting the Smith Alley Brewery. The Head Brewer is expected to manage:

    -All aspects of Brew House production
    -Recipe development and integrity.
    -Showroom sparkling cleanliness and sanitation of the brew house.
    -SOP’s for all brewery operations and equipment including compliance with CIP standards, as well as Company Sanitation Standards.
    -Adherence to kegging, transferring, cellaring, bottling/canning procedures, and schedules.
    -All brewery personnel and operations.
    -Lab testing and quality control procedures.
    -Quality control from grain to glass
    -Operations of brew equipment to maintain desired inventory of raw materials and maximize production of beer.

    In addition to the standard duties of head brewer the head brewer will be expected to:

    -Serve as a spokesperson for the brewery and the product, the face of the brewery.
    -Able to interact with the public daily, conducting brewery tours and attending beer festivals, community events and special events as necessary.
    -Work with the General Manager to ensure brewery schedules adhere to budget and production requirements.
    -Provide weekly product and brew forecasts.
