    Hours: Full time

    Compensation: Salary TBD based on experience. Benefits include 401k, paid time off, and beer perks.

    Reports to: Head Brewer

    Overview:

    Black Hog Brewing is looking for a production brewer to join our team at our production facility in Oxford CT. We have a 2 vessel Premier stainless 15bbl system and are brewing 5000+ bbl a year. The cellar has 10 tanks in her (8 FV’s and 2 Brights) so efficiency while producing quality wort is paramount. We are looking for someone with experience in wort production and cellar tasks to fill this role with a min of 1 year of beer wort production required. The perfect candidate must have a commitment to quality and always be looking for the ability to learn to improve as a Brewer. We have a tight crew that everyone covers each other’s back. Need to have the drive to assist where needed to help the whole team be successful. Mechanical experience and aptitude and/or formal Brewing education are very strong pluses.

    Duties included but are not limited to:

    -Brewhouse
    The ability to run a 2 vessel 15bbl Premier Stainless system. Will have to produce wort from a recipe following an SOP to ensure quality finished product. At the same time must have the expertise and knowledge to adjust the process to meet the individual beers specifications.

    -Cellar Operations
    The CIP and SIP of 30bbl or 60bbl FV and bright tanks to ensure there is a clean and sanitary vessel to be brewing into, yeast management of 2 different yeast strains, in-line carbonation as well as pressure transfers, gravities. Need to be able to complete the daily, Weekly and Monthly cleaning needs of an open Cellar to our tasting room guest.
    -Record keeping
    Computer literacy is a must. We keep detailed record of every step of the process and the correct candidate must be able to accurately transcribe all brewing data into the computer Database. We use FileMaker Pro, and Excel a ton. So knowledge in those programs an advantage.
    -Preventative Maintenance
    Experience and knowledge of preventative maintenance of brewery pumps, tanks, steam boilers, grain augers, electric fork truck and all the parts that make a brewery run is needed.

    Other tasks as needed
    -Assisting on the Wild goose Canning line with depal, labeler and PakTech applicator
    -Helping out with keg washing and keg filling
    -Fork truck experience a plus

    Our ideal candidate:

    -Must be 21 years of age
    -2 years commercial brewing experience with one of those in the wort production. This is not an entry-level position.
    -Must be a passionate brewer and love the work it takes to make quality beer
    -Must have attention to detail
    -Will have a high level verbal and written communication capacity
    -Will be a team player who works with others to achieve a common goal
    -Flexibility in schedule to work early or late shifts and possibility of weekends as we grow our brand.
    -Fork Truck lift experience
    -Loves to squeegee

    Physical Requirement/Working Conditions:

    -Standing up to 10 hours per shift
    -Stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, sweating
    -Manual manipulation of small parts and all equipment necessary to the job
    -Lifting up to 55 pounds to shoulder height repetitively and up to 155lb full kegs with appropriate tools and techniques
    -Working in often hot/wet/cold/humid conditions
    -Ability to walk up and down stairs throughout shift
