  • Head Brewer wanted for new brewery in Phoenix, AZ

Hello everyone, thanks for reading. I posted on here a year ago and got some great responses but then I had a family emergency and had to delay this brewery a year. But we are back and currently negotiating a lease on a 7000 sq ft warehouse and finalizing a loan. I am looking for a brewer to lead us.

Roses by the Stairs brewing will be a privately owned 10BBL brewery located Phoenix, Arizona focusing on, but not exclusively, sour, mixed fermentations, barrel aged and spontaneous fermented beers opening in 2020/2021. Roses by the Stairs is seeking an experienced and passionate brewer to lead our brewing operations.

The Head Brewer will be integral with the development and future success of the brewery. This is an excellent opportunity to grow a brand from the beginning and work in a collaborative environment to shape the future of Roses by the Stairs The Head Brewer position is a key member of the Roses by the Stairs team, reporting directly to the owner of the brewery.

If we just wanted to make beer we could just continue to homebrew. Our mission is to make the world a better place with our beer. 1% of revenues will be donated to sustainability charities and another 1% will be donated to local educational charities in the Phoenix area. We will buy local as much as possible and will try to work towards being a zero waste facility. Plated and utensils will be compostable.

If you have the experience required, you know the duties. But in case you need a reminder:

Duties will include raw materials acquisition and handling, recipe formulation, brewing, wort production, fermentation and conditioning management, including fermenter/brite CIP & sanitation, monitoring fermentation dry-hopping, yeast management, transferring beers between tanks, monitoring conditioning, kegging and keg washing and detailed recordkeeping, equipment maintenance, laboratory work, cleaning and sanitation.

At least 3 year’s experience working on a 7+ barrel system.
Strong understanding of sour brewing science.
Strong understanding of barrel aging sours and stouts.
Strong record of recipe generation and scaling.
Understanding of yeast handling and propagation.
Proven track record of excellent quality control standards

If interested please submit your resume and a description of the 5 beers you would have on tap on opening day to
