Cellar operator
Dry Dock Brewing Company’s production brewery, located in Aurora, CO is seeking a full time Cellar Operator. Dry Dock is a growing company which operates two separate breweries, a 7 Bbl tasting-room location and a 40 Bbl production facility. This position is for the production facility. This location produced 10,000 Bbls of beer in 2013, its first year in operation. We have a 75% increase in tank space on its way this February. This position could turn into more for the right candidate.
Job Summary:
The Cellar Operator will be responsible for all cellar operations and duties. The primary responsibilities of this position will be preparing fermentation vessels to receive wort, and transferring beer from “green” to “bright.” Transfers will primarily consist of operating a centrifuge. The Cellar Operator will also be expected to assist in all aspects of producing beer in a production brewery as needed. The right candidate will be safety-minded, efficient, quality-focused, have a great work ethic, a positive attitude and be part of the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform transfers through a centrifuge with post filtration
• CIP tanks, cellar equipment and brewhouse
• Harvest, pitch and manage yeast
• Weekly materials inventories
• Dry-hop and fine beers
• Mill and stage recipes accurately
• Maintain workplace safety while upholding quality standards
• Continually lift, drag, carry and manipulate hoses, parts, pumps, buckets and reservoirs
• Maintain accurate and legible records
• Sanitation of all beer contact surfaces and equipment
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment and infrastructure
• Understand uses of all chemicals and follow OSHA standards
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• 2+ years brewery experience
• Possess a mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
• Need to be self-motivated
• Ability to multitask and manage time while being detail oriented
• Flexible schedule
• Reliable transportation
• Physical requirements: Our Cellar Operator must be able to bend over, twist, kneel, stand for the duration of a shift, lift 55 pounds and maneuver 160 pounds repeatedly. Requires proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex machinery.
• Good communication skills
