Twisted Manzanita Ales & Spirits is hiring for a new Full-Time Team Member! We are located in sunny Southern California. We’re on track to brew 4000bbl in 2014 with six year-round offerings and an average of one specialty release per month. This year we’ve extended distribution beyond CA and are expanding our production accordingly. Our Beer is currently distributed in 7 states and 5 countries. We are a lean, dedicated organization so flexibility, commitment and personal drive are required for a successful applicant.
We are seeking an upbeat, broadminded Cellar Person to join our team. This position is a salaried position and reports to the head brewer. The Cellar Person will be responsible for performing cellar operations and duties. The primary responsibilities of this position are to ensure tanks are clean and sanitary, beers are dry hopped and managing the packaging lines.
Job Responsibilities
Ability to perform scheduled wort production according to recipe and S.O.P.
Perform and record daily tank readings (gravity, pH, etc).
Perform yeast propagation, cell counting, and pitching.
Contribute to process development and refinement.
Exercise shipping and receiving duties.
Packaging brite beer according to standards (bottling and kegging).
Barrel work - cooperage, filling, emptying, conditioning, blending.
Supervise packaging line staff.
Work with and report any mechanical issues to maintenance manager and/or supervisor.
Work with lab staff with any QC/QA protocols.
Yeast management (cropping, cell counts, pitch rates, generation tracking, etc).
Write SOP's, and provide constant feedback into process improvement.
Prepare brew days by weighing and milling grain.
Perform tap system maintenance (cleaning, reorganization, trouble shooting, etc).
Represent the brewery at various events.
Requirements
Reverence for sanitation that borders on the pathological
*At least 2 yrs experience in functioning brewery* performing wort production and cellar operations
Ability to make responsible recalculations on-the-go in high stress situations
Can work safely around hazardous chemicals, high voltage, hot liquids, compressed gases, pressurized vessels, etc.
Have a clean driving record
Ability to work weekends as required
Mechanical ability and common sense
Good time management skills
Commitment to excellence and high standards
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain a must
Work Environment
Safely, lift, move 55 pound bags of grain and 1/6 & ½ kegs
Use ladders and scissor lifts and work at heights.
Stand for long periods of time while filling kegs and packaging
Physical work (bending, kneeling, pulling hoses, etc.)
Continuous noise in work area
Will work with strong and often times hazardous chemicals (MSDS a plus)

Ability to pilot batches to serve in our two tasting rooms
Ability to work alongside Head Brewer
Ability to contribute across multiple disciplines within the brewery

An entry level position; if you don’t have any production brewery experience this is not a position for you. You will have to prove you have the work ethic and responsibility first to get on to the brewhouse. You will not begin by creating recipes, but you will be helping make great beer.
