  • Big Timber Brewing is looking for a Cellar Person/Packaging Tech in Elkins, WV

    Cellarman/Packaging Tech will work with the brew crew at Big Timber to assist and aid in the production of beer in a safe and timely manner. He/She will report to the Head Brewer, Lead Brewer, and Packaging Lead. He/She will assist them with all facets of beer production in Elkins, WV.

    This position will constantly maintain, review, implement, create, and update best practices and Standard Operating Procedures. This position is directly responsible for, BUT not limited to the following:

    Managing all cellar operations

    a. CIP + SIP + Purging vessels
    b. Transferring finished product with strict attention to O2 pickup
    c. Maintaining and cleaning equipment
    d. Dry hopping, gravity monitoring, and temperature changes
    e. Inventory management and Record keeping

    Packaging assistance
    a. Cleaning and filling kegs

    b. Cleaning and operating canning line
    c. Order fulfillment

    Operating heavy machinery
    a. Forklift and pallet jack operation
    b. Delivery van operation for occasional short trips around town
    c. Man lift operation

    b. Account draught line maintenance
    c. Stock taproom
    d. Maintain a Clean and Orderly Brewhouse & Cellar
    e. Follow all Brewery and Cellar SOPs and Checklists
    f. Assist w/ brewing when needed
    g. Maintain Cellar & Fermentation Logs
    h. Maintain Brewery Records & Communication Logs
    i. Regular meetings with production and management team
    j. Show up to work on time, in a great mood, and take pride in producing great beer!

    • Able to safely and responsibly work around alcohol
    • Able to lift 60 lbs. and work long hours on your feet
    • Must be able to work flexible hours, including later nights and occasional weekend shifts

    • Must be able to work individually and in a team environment
    • Must be proficient in brewery chemical usage, PPE, and hazardous material handling
    • Punctual and Organized
    • Knowledgeable about brewing processes and have excellent sanitation practices
    • Must be 21 years or older
    • Must be able to pass a background check and be insured to drive company vehicles
    -Safe driving record for past 3 years
    • Must have a passion to learn and grow in the brewing industry
    • Formal education is a big plus

    Pay starts at $10/hour for entry level position with no experience. Pay is negotiable depending on experience and education. 35-40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime. Company will match 75% of health insurance. Maximum FSA company contribution and SIMPLE IRA match.
