Haw River Farmhouse Ales, a small (2000bbl/year) family-owned craft brewery located in Saxapahaw, NC, since 2014, is currently interviewing candidates for a part-time Production Assistant position to join our small but dedicated brewery team. Job Duties & Responsibilities
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, use hands to handle, touch & feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel & crouch, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 55 pounds on a daily basis, and move/team lift up to 165 pounds. Specific abilities in this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
This part-time hourly position (expected to be ~20 hours/week, occasionally on weekends); for the motivated candidate, there will be potential for more hours as the company grows. A successful candidate will receive a competitive, living wage with prior experience and existent skills considered. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with canning/packaging days at the brewery and warehouse. This will be a primary part of the role, especially early on.
- Perform routine cellaring operations under the oversight of the Lead Cellarman: tank CIP/SIP, cleaning of vessel exteriors, keg washing, keg filling, inventories, etc... Professional experience preferred, but training provided. The motivated candidate will have room for advancement in this area.
- Preparation, loading and transportation of finished pallets of beer among locations.
- Maintenance/cleaning days at brewery and warehouse.
- Accept/process deliveries at the brewery or warehouse (raw supplies, packaging supplies, etc...) and document appropriately. Forklift and pallet jack operation required; experience preferred, but training provided.
- Safe transportation of raw materials and supplies between locations.
- Participate in sensory/palate training.
- Assist Head Brewer and Warehouse Manager with other tasks, such as inventory, logistics, etc...
- High school/GED or higher
- Safety conscious
- Commercial brewery experience a plus
- Able to meet physical demands (see below)
