Beer Distribution Ownership Opening

PK Distributing in Northeast Wyoming is looking for a motivated individual interested in taking ownership of a small craft beer distribution company. We are a brewery run craft distribution company that represents eight breweries from around the region in five counties of NE Wyoming. With the current Covid crisis, our brewery is getting hit in a way that is threatening the survival of the brewery itself. Thus, we are in need of refocusing our efforts exclusively on the brewery and cannot put the necessary time into the distribution company. We also do not want to let our breweries down that we represent as they have put significant time and resources into our market and it is unfair to them to shut down operations. So we are looking for the right candidate who is looking to expand a currently profitable company and build upon the relationships we have already established.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
PK Distributing is based in Gillette, WY currently distributes eight breweries in a market of about 150,000 people in five counties. During the tourism season we see about 2.5 million people pass through the area moving between the Black Hills of SD, Devil’s Tower National Monument, and Yellowstone National Park. There are other markets in the surrounding area that we have built growth plans to move into but have not yet executed; including the east gate are of Yellowstone Park. There is a lot of potential for growth in the company with the right person at the helm. Two craft breweries, Big Lost Meadery and Luminous Brewhouse own and manage the distribution company. PK currently operates two to three days per week and significant market growth can occur from a full-time ownership status.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
An ideal candidate would have a functional background in the craft beer industry, particularly in sales, distribution, logistics, and marketing. Prior work experience in distribution operations is preferred, but candidates that have managed wholesale operations of a craft brewery will be considered. A personality conducive to craft sales is a must. An administrative ability to handle accounting, taxes, purchasing, warehouse management, and other items will enhance one’s ability greatly. Good connections with craft breweries that may be brought into the market will be a key asset to growth in the market. Some financial backing will be key in creating growth in the company as investment will be needed to expand.
We care deeply about our relationships with our breweries and will only sell to a candidate that we believe can be trusted to make the company succeed. We will also assist in transition of ownership over an agreed upon period of time to ensure that PK is successful and will be available as a sounding board as long as needed for the new ownership.
ABOUT GILLETTE, WYOMING
Gillette, WY is located in Campbell County. We are half-way between the Big Horn Mountains and the Black Hills. Mount Rushmore and Devil’s Tower are each within 90 minutes of town. Gillette has a population of about 35,000 and there are about an additional 10,000 in the county. We are a rural area with high end amenities. Located in the largest coal producing area in the world, our economy is primarily energy driven. We also have significant amounts of oil, natural gas, and uranium production. Agriculture (primarily cattle and sheep) is another large segment of the economy. There is one community college, four high schools, two junior highs, and lots of elementary schools. The median age of the city is young as most people come to Gillette for high labor work environments. The median household income is $69,000 and median home cost is $264,000. Cost of living index is 102.7.
NE Wyoming is also a premier area for hunting, fishing, outdoor recreation, hiking, ATV/snowmobiling, and camping. We are also located in an area that gives easy access to the many mountain ranges of Wyoming and southern Montana. We are 5.5 hours north of Denver, 2 hours west of Rapid City, SD, and 3.5 hours southeast of Billings, MT. We do also have an airport that only takes about 15 minutes to get through security and into your gate that services Denver and Salt Lake City!
