A unique General Manager opportunity on the Cartridge Brewing team (a brewpub/taproom concept) for an experience FOH Rock Star who is driven by creativity and focused on quality above all else. Looking for someone who not only has the ability but is excited to be a part of establishing a startup business in a phenomenal historical landmark being brought back to life – the Peters Cartridge Factory. Looking for a GM who is ready to tackle any and all challenges to be an integral part of our collaborative team focused on our mission of honoring the past, and brewing the future. We already have our brewer and Executive Chef.
The GM will be a key contributor in designing, building, layout, and developing systems for our 150+ seat taproom/restaurant. within our 10,000+ square foot renovated brewery and taproom room to be located within the revitalized historical landmark Peters Cartridge Factory community in the Northeast Suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. Cartridge Brewing’s targeted opening date is late 2020. Construction has already started.
ABOUT CARTRIDGE BREWING:
On the banks of the Little Miami River lies the historic Peters Cartridge Factory, a local landmark that was once a community hub and the heart of Kings Mills. The space is now getting a new lease on life and will become home to Cartridge Brewing. With a full-service kitchen and 15bbl brewhouse dedicated to a variety of taproom beers and a selection of special bottle releases, Cartridge Brewing will help restore the Peters Cartridge Factory to its former glory as a gathering place for the Kings Mills Community in late 2020.
The historic ammunition factory dates back to 1916 and sits next to the Little Miami River and Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail. The site's redevelopment is underway, being led by owners/redevelopers Bloomfield Schon, and is on target to be completed in late 2020. The entire Peters Cartridge Factory site includes ~135 residences, Cartridge Brewing (10,000 sq ft commercial), a proposed private event space, and 1 additional commercial space.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate will be creative, safety-minded, efficient, quality-focused, possess a great work ethic, a positive attitude, and be a team player. The General Manager is an immediate member of the management team reporting directly to the COO with options to earn equity through performance. As part of the management team, the General Manager will be expected to contribute to our continued growth, constantly displaying a high level of maturity, responsibility, and pride in our work. Candidates must seek to be challenged and embrace the challenge of a startup brewery. They must also share Cartridge Brewing’s’ commitments to quality, safety, business ethics, and continuous innovation.
Key goals: maximize efficiency and profitability of our operations through system development, adherence, and modifications; maintain a close knit, professional, and engaged staff; oversee the development of community relationships through off-premise events and delivering on our philanthropic missions; collaboration with Executive Chef for restaurant marketing by providing a strong social media presence, capitalizing on community exposure opportunities. The ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and take tasks to completion is a must. This position will be expected to work with all departments of the business including Sales, Marketing and Brewery Operations.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide superior leadership:
- Motivate and inspire staff by outlining achievable goals and objectives; providing supervision, accountability, and recognition; leading by example.
- Comprehensively fulfill our mission of top-notch dining experience with fresh and local food; develop a professional and well-trained staff able to describe and sell our beer; assist with development of seasonal and sustainable dishes; create innovative menus that stimulate customer purchases and loyalty.
- Establish a management team with positive working relationships that focus on communication and accountability.
Restaurant Operations
- Manage Daily Operations: regulate daily processes and constantly improve operational systems; periodically monitor floor/kitchen operations; monitor security systems; promptly respond to email and phone communications
- Meet Financial Goals: establish, monitor, and adjust financial controls; control costs and adjust systems when necessary; develop and implement strategies to increase revenues; prepare financial reporting; monitor and approve spending decisions;
- Uphold Service Standards: monitor and evaluate food, beverage, and service offerings; maintain high-value staff training; initiate improvements; build relationships with preferred patrons;
- Focus on Accountability: monitor and evolve staff and manager checklists; hold yourself and team accountable to developed and implemented systems, to defined roles and duties, and to maintaining a positive attitude;
- Facilities Maintenance and Permitting: schedule preventative maintenance for equipment; timely submit all permit renewals; monitor seasonal needs; stay abreast of inspection dates and reports related to health, fire, sanitation, and safety standards; maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures
- Uphold Administrative Service Standards: promptly respond to customer and company email and phone communications; assist with responding to customer credit card disputes; communicate to FOH management any customer complaints
Human Resource Management
- Accomplish Company FOH Human Resource Objectives: recruit top industry professionals; train, coach, counsel, and discipline staff; clearly communicate job expectations, policies, and procedures; lead by example; review staff job contributions and compensation levels;
- Maximize Labor: employ fewer, highly-skilled, better compensated workers; work with managers to adjust scheduling to match customer volumes; communicate effectively all site specials, promotions, policy changes, and company events and local happenings
Additional Responsibilities
- Have a thorough understanding of the brewing process, our everyday beers, and our seasonal and experimental styles of beer
- Have thorough knowledge of Ohio Alcohol Laws / Excise laws and hold managers and staff accountable for compliance.
- Have a thorough understanding of restaurant menu and Cartridge philosophy on food/service.
