    We are currently for searching for a Brewery Lab Manager to join our growing team. Sleeping Giant Brewing Company has enjoyed tremendous growth as the first dedicated contract brewery in the Western United States and is now the largest brewery in Denver.
    Known internationally as a top contract brewery for craft beer, we packaged dozens of different beers, won multiple World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival medals, shipped beer to over 30 states, and worked with partner breweries across the globe. This is an opportunity to get in at a rapidly growing brewery with significant opportunities for future advancement.
    The ideal candidate for this position will be self-motivated and hard-working with a high attention to detail.     Job Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:
    • Promote a “Safety First” attitude brewery-wide
    • Enforce safety policies, quality standards and GDP requirements
    • Build strong sense of team among Lab team by setting a positive example, demonstrative of team behavior and consistently listening to and coaching staff
    • Create an atmosphere of mutual respect and open, prompt communication to customers inside and outside the organization
    • Embrace and promotes an atmosphere of continual improvement for self and staff
    • Respond promptly to employee and customer concerns and maintains a high level of communication upward and downward within the organization
    • Ensure all staff are executing duties in accordance with latest SOP’s through training and auditing of employee execution while on shift. Serves as point person for staff training
    • Participate in keeping department SOP’s updated and relevant to current operational conditions
    • Submit staff training documentation to HR for employee files
    • Follow all hiring procedures and participates in the hiring, discipline and termination of directly reporting staff members
    • Actively participate in required meetings and is respectful of co- worker’s time
    • Attend company and industry functions as required
    • Maintain knowledge and operate all lab equipment as needed.
    • Train new and current team members in the operation and troubleshooting of the lab equipment and operational systems.
    • Ensure that QA/QC samples are gathered as required and performs audits on all staff operations to ensure compliance with expected testing regimen.
    • Ensure quality standards across all facets of production. Immediately elevates critical issues to supervisor.
    • Maintenance and audit of quality control procedures / logs.
    • Regular audits of production records to ensure specifications are being met by brewing operations.
    • Trouble shoot production related deviations as required.
    • Direct workflow for lab technicians and Interns.
    • Audit lab team timecard information to verify accurate and timely recording by team members.
    • Participates in communicating budgetary needs for staff, capital projects etc. to achieve company safety and quality goals.
    • Conduct periodic and regular meetings of managed staff to assure direct reports are informed, can participate in department improvement and builds a sense of cohesion in the department.
    • Serve as a level of redundancy to the Director of Technical Brewing in providing weekly input into production schedule regarding yeast pitch sources or any quality concerns relevant to production scheduling.

    Minimum requirements to be considered:
    • 3+ years of experience in a production brewery lab setting
    • 1+ year management experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
