Executive Director Job Overview
Tired Hands Brewing Company is seeking an Executive Director to join our leadership team in a new role, essential to the function/operation, and growth of our organization. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership for the company by working with the ownership and the Leadership Team to establish and execute short term and long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. The Executive Director will also manage day to day business functions, support the entire team and foster a culture of kindness and respect. We are a close-knit team of people who are passionate organoleptic cartographers and value flexibility, creativity and innovation. We make beer, and it’s really fun.
Essential Functions
1. Establishes credibility throughout the organization and with the Leadership Team as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
2. Provides leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of the company are put into practice.
3. Develops and implements strategies to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives.
4. Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
5. Collaborates with the Leadership Team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the company.
6. Motivates and leads a high-performance management team; attracts, recruits, and retains a diverse and talented team; provides mentoring and supports career development. Supports company diversity and inclusion priorities and efforts.
7. Supports marketing, guest relations, and vendor relationships,
8. Fosters a success-oriented, supportive and accountable environment.
9. Implements and audits loss prevention measures.
10. Ensures staff are happy, safe and appropriately compensated.
11. Communicates consistently and often in a manner and tone that is consistent with our requirements for kindness and respect.
12. Audits and is ultimately responsible for every employee’s compliance with company policies and procedures across locations.
13. Responsible for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including license record keeping, tax filing and reporting. Examples include all liquor and food licensing, OSHA, DOL, FDA, TTB, EEOC, IRS, Department of Revenue, ERISA, Health Department, PHRC, PLCB, etc. regulations.
14. Ensures all licensing is maintained and taxes are timely filed
15. Manages company finances, budgets, and cashflow, in consultation with the finance team and ownership.
16. Proposes investment strategies.
17. Manages risk of loss, liability, insurance, legal, etc.
18. Responsible for contract management, review, negotiation, disputes, and competitive bidding.
19. Oversees accounting, purchasing, and recordkeeping. Develops and implements company policies and practices in consultation with leadership and compliance with applicable law and best practices. Audit for compliance with company policies and ultimately responsible for consistent, fair and effective implementation of all company policies.
20. Completes assignments and projects within the time frame stipulated by ownership.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all department heads and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. The Executive Director also directly manages non-supervisory employees. This position’s responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Work Environment
This job operates in a retail, restaurant and brewing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The Executive Director must be able to manage an environment free from harassment and discrimination.
Physical Demands
Must be able to file sheets of paper, give a mean “high” five, and lift up to 55lbs at a time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and will often require weekend work. This role requires flexible availability, and quick responses. Our Executive Director should be prepared to support all departments as-needed, beyond the structure of a typical work day. The Executive Director is responsible for supporting the wellbeing of the organization as a whole, at all levels.
Excellent time-management is imperative for your success, as well as the company’s success. We expect you to be aware of, and comfortable with consistently communicating your needs, as they pertain to the business, as well as yourself. As we like to say “Communication is the Key (Lime Pie).”
Travel
This position may require traveling up to five days per month. Some of the travel may be international.
Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. 10 to 15+ years in varied/diverse management/leadership roles in a variety of businesses and industries.
3. 5+ years of experience at a senior executive/VP role with responsibilities for managing teams of staff, compliance and finances/budgets.
4. Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance objectives and execute long-term projects.
5. MBA preferred.
