We are a high-volume destination brewery located in the heart of the Gorge, just 40 minutes from downtown Portland. Thunder Island started nearly 8 years ago, and in September 2020 we moved to our brand new 10,000 sqft purpose-built brewery and taproom in Cascade Locks, Oregon. - You must reside within a 30 minute drive of Cascade Locks or be willing to relocate to within this radius no later than 6 months from your date of hire (non-negotiable)
- You must have or be able to obtain an Oregon Food Handler’s Card and OLCC license
- You must have the ability to drive the company vehicles, have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Essential Skills:
- 3+ years in a comparable position, preferably in the craft beer industry
- Excellent computer skills (tech savvy!); proficiency in Google Docs and Sheets or Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is required; familiarity with Indesign is a plus!
- Proficient knowledge of basic accounting principles, and analytical ability to relate financial reports to financial objectives such as controlling labor costs and COGs
- Experience building concepts and processes from the ground-up; demonstrate experience managing deadlines and budget-driven projects
- High competence in Oregon state and federal labor laws
Job Responsibilities:
Restaurant Management:
- Manage day-to-day food & beverage operations from open to close, including our 50 seat main dining room, 50 seat 2nd story patio, and downstairs taproom and beer garden
- Empower staff to curate an outstanding guest experience, and provide support and/or step in when service recovery is needed
- Work in partnership with the F&B in ensuring quality control, menu development, FOH & BOH camaraderie, implementation of the OLCC Responsible Vendor program, develop and roll-out a liquor program (2022), and ensure compliance with OLCC guidelines and health department food safety guidelines
- Work closely with brewing staff to ensure quality control with our draft system, beer education, and brewery safety
- Develop, document and implement SOPs to ensure smooth service and a sparkling workplace
- Oversee equipment (maintenance and service), maintain or establish pars for supplies inventory (disposables, beverages, glassware, merchandise, etc)
- Oversee administrative tasks: maintain guest communications (voicemails, emails, reservations), reconcile daily cash drops, manage the tip pool, respond to customer reviews and feedback, edit and print menus, maintain the POS system, approve timesheets,
- Work in tandem with the Marketing Manager to roll-out marketing promotions, the retail aspect of our merchandise program, and administration of our Mug Club customer loyalty program
- Coordinate and execute special events, such as onsite events (trivia night, brewers dinners, programming), rehearsal dinners, corporate events, large private events, off-site catered events
- Manage day-to-day scheduling of all FOH staff, anticipate restaurant staffing needs; including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, training, motivating & retaining team members
- Develop and identify deficits and talent in employees, and oversee annual performance reviews of all FOH & BOH employees
- Create an inclusive and positive work environment; encourage and solicit feedback
- Enforce company policies, including swiftly addressing coaching moments, taking disciplinary action when needed, and ensure accurate and objective documentation.
- Coordinate and conduct regular meetings such as pre-shift or all staff meetings, monthly safety meetings, and seek out team building opportunities
Other Duties
- Attend weekly leadership meetings, and quarterly work sessions with the goal of establishing and achieving both financial goals and overall company goals
- Provide recommendations for process improvements, service improvements, increased profitability and staff performance
- Perform other duties as requested and as business dictates. As a new facility and growing business, this job description is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed to meet changing business needs.
Work Environment
- Physical strength and agility necessary with the ability to lift 50-100 lbs repeatedly

- The ability to work on your feet for long periods of time (standing, walking, bending)
- The ability to work a flexible schedule including a rotating schedule of early morning, late evening, and weekend work
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range (DOE): $55,000 to 70,000 with Bonus opportunities
