    Position Summary

    Block 15 is currently hiring for the exciting new position of Head Brewer/Creative Development Manager (HBCM). The right candidate will be an energetic and positive member of the brewing team responsible for the formulation of new products, process and product improvement, and quality assurance from concept to packaging. The HBCM will work well in a group, follow direction from senior-level team members, and excel working both independently and on team projects. The HBCM is an exempt salaried position under the lead of Director of Brewing Operations and will work closely with our Founding Brewer in the creative process.

    Desired Skills and Responsibilities
    • Create new products, concepts, and recipes and be able to communicate
      the ideas to our team and customers.
    • Continually evolve current offerings
    • Assist in beer production and packaging
    • Be the key point of contact for collaborations
    • Raw materials evaluations and sourcings
    • Manage 1BBL advancement tanks and 7bbl experimental batches from
      conception to process to package to evaluations.
    • Assist in company education, tours, and evaluations.
    • Ensure the maintenance and good working order of all brewing equipment.
    • Assist in development and updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Ensure a safe working environment and support safety improvements.
    • Maintain brewing areas to high cleanliness and organizational standards.
    • Manage the brew team and daily flow through positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
    • Concise data entry and reporting

    Expectations
    • Continue to grow personal knowledge of beer styles and brewing techniques.
    • Company wide employee engagement; must be able to present ideas, values and beer knowledge in a professional and public manner.
    • Ability to work with others and receive constructive criticism and feedback.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve mechanical equipment.
    • Manage time efficiently while balancing creation, continuing education and completing assigned tasks.
    • Work under the guidance and oversight of the Director of Brewing Operations.
    • Occasional weekend work and travel.

    Required Qualifications
    • A deep and enthusiastic passion, understanding, and curiosity for craft beer and all beer styles.
    • Strong skills in technical aspects of brewing, recipe development, beer finishing, project management, leadership, and personnel development.
    • 3 years experience in a production brewery setting.
    • Technical and analytical skills are adequate to effectively resolve beer production, quality, and employee performance issues.
    • Sound technical knowledge of brewing raw materials and components.
    • Ability to develop and manage productive relationships with staff and peers locally and remotely.
    • A strong working knowledge of OSHA and TTB regulations.
    • Experience with ERP software such as Ekos or Orchestrated BEER.


    Desired Qualifications
    • Forklift operation experience/certification.
    • Four-year college degree in brewing or a brewing-related field is a plus.
    • Cicerone Certifications
    • BJCP Judging Certification
