Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the brewing and cellar teams, as well as ensuring production is planned in a simple and efficient way to meet production goals. They will manage the brewers and assistant brewers, while working with sales, packaging, warehouse, and the lab to ensure execution of quality products to meet production needs. Production manager reports to the Director of Brewing Operations.

Essential Duties

Manage the Brewing and Cellar Team

• Lead manage and hold accountable the brewing and cellar operations team
• Fill in on the brew deck and cellar when needed
• Schedule workflow that allows for lunches and even work distribution
• Work with lab, and packaging in order to ensure the schedule moves in good working order to meet production targets

Plan the brew schedule and facilitate the ordering of ingredients

• Ensure that raw materials are accounted for, purchased, and communicated in a timely manner
• Build a 13 week brew schedule considering tank capacity, yeast health, production flow, and sales demand
• Set a daily team schedule, and be willing to adjust and communicate as production needs change
• Work with Director of Brewing to transcribe new recipes into ekos and brew logs in order to meet load in deadlines
• Communicate with packaging, warehouse and sales, as part of our sales ops process to ensure demand is met

Train and communicate to ensure consistent product

• Work closely with the lab team to ensure CCP’s are consistently met, and adjusted as we learn and grow
• Facilitate the upkeep and maintenance of SOP’s to ensure consistent product
• Ensure team members are trained correctly and following all SOP’s
• Understand the centrifuge and ensure its daily function and consistency

• Must be a team player
• Successful experience in a leadership role
• Strong technical brewing understanding and experience in a brewery making 20,000bbls or more
• Brewing education is strongly preferred or a degree in a related field
• Experience with ekos is preferred, and must have experience with a ERP software in the brewing industry
• Passionate about brewing beer in a safe environment
• Must have a calm temperament in a fast paced production environment, and willing to change and evolve through growth
• Experience running a centrifuge
• Willing to creatively problem solve as issues arise
• Availability on weekends and nights to troubleshoot problems in the brewery
• Understanding of lean manufacturing is encouraged

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma , and more than five years of experience in the industry with a related degree in brewing science preferred

NECESSARY LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:.) A degree in brewing, or related science, other certifications issued via organizations such as IBD, and Siebel are a plus
